With Golden Axe: Beast Rider hitting stores on October 17, Sega is ramping up the PR for its imminent monster-subjugating action game. Here's a video which bigs up the series and seems intent on reassuring us that this new Golden Axe isn't going to suck.
In the above video, you can watch videogame journalists talk about riding beasts and owning purple chickens. You can make whatever innuendo you like out of that.
Readers don't seem keen on Beast Rider, but I am still willing to give it a fair shake. Whatever our memories may have us believe, the original Golden Axe really wasn't all that brilliant and doesn't truly have this sacred legacy to be tarnished. If a competent and fun action game can come of the license, so be it, even if the Golden Axe name is totally being used to flog a few extra copies.
