G4TV's big annoucement: Cue the crickets photo

After not revealing their announcement on the actual day that they were suppose, and then giving us a week of re-runs, G4TV and Attack of the Show have finally gotten it together and have announced their big news tonight. Wait for it ...

*big fanfare*

Starting November 3, G4TV will be running new episodes of Heroes on Saturday nights at 10 PM. Yep, that's the big news. The news that they've been waiting 2 weeks for them to get the "OK" to tell us. So basically, G4TV is saying that viewers will be able to watch new episodes of Heroes six days after the episodes premiere Monday nights on NBC. That's great news for the small percent of people that don't own a VCR, TiVo or DVD recorder.

But wait there's more! On October 27 and 28, anyone who missed season one of Heroes will be able to get caught up with the show by watching the Heroes marathon. Wow ... that somehow still didn't make up for the first boring announcement.

I hate to sound cruel, because I really do like G4TV (and all they do to support Destructoid), but come on -- this is what G4 thinks is a big announcement? In the blogging world, some people get fired for hyping announcements like this.

I love watching G4TV but this was the worst announcement evar! I flipped over from Law and Order: SVU for that. I could have been watching commercials instead.

Big fucking deal. I'd rather they go back to their original original programming or change their name to "Cops + Cheaters".

Heroes is awesome (fuck that guy above me), but this announcement was a complete waste of time.

Here I was, pulling for something amazing like a return to...I don't know...video game programming.

Instead, we get more syndication. WOW!

*yawn*

Yeah, you don't even need a TiVo or DVR or VCR to watch episodes you missed. NBC has all of the current season available to watch online. Just wait like 8 hours after it shows on TV and POOF, it's online.

If I missed Heroes the first time, I wouldn't give up my Saturday nights to catch it.

HAHA. OH WOW.

This is the greatest event since Geraldo Rivera opened up Al Capone's secret vault live on national television.

Well, they did announce their little interactive time on Saturdays as well. Still, not the big news I was hoping for. Granted, I love G4TV (alright, so X-Play and AoTS), but this is a straight 1...

...

...outta 5...

I don't even get G4TV anymore so I could care less either way. I never watched it anyway after the merger.

My IPTV company obviously knows better than to try and peddle crap like G4 to it's users.

Are you kidding? It today really April Fools Day because I doubt G4TV would be that stupid to make a huge deal over stale episodes of Heroes.

"That's great news for the small percent of people that don't own a VCR, TiVo or DVD recorder."

Or computer, seeing as how NBC.com hosts streaming episodes from the current season.

It's funny. For a second, I almost cared about G4TV.

Poor G4 and Tech TV... they used to be so good, now, this G4TV.. just...

Oh heck, I'll say it... it's Meeeh...

It was great, and still ain't bad (specially for catching up on all your nerd centric TV programming), but when the big deal is Heroes, I'd rather have morgan webb stare blankly into the camera for 22 minutes.

I don't understand. Didn't that G in G4 used to stand for Gaming? It gets harder and harder every day to watch because the network has been spikeified. I never watch X-play anymore and i catch AOTS every once in a while. It just dosen't appeal to me anymore. I can't believe i'm saying this but the G4 merger was a mistake. I saw this coming a mile away yet I rode the train all the way to the broken bridge. I want TechTv back. I don't wanna watch cops or Ninja Warrior. I don't want to watch Star trek. Get gaming back and you'll catch my attention again. Otherwise, i'm just reading game mags for my reviews. That lasts longer than 3 minutes.

Wow, even if I watched that shitty show I gotta say that is utterly pathetic to use such an announcement to tell everybody about a show that's already airing. In a way, I'm sort of glad I no longer have G4TV anymore. Despite a few joys they have, this is one of the worst cases of "selling out" ever. Not just because of this announcement, but everything they'd done up till now. Somebody give me a facepalm, plz.

Wow, G4 has gotten even further away from gaming and tech. Amazing that they wanted to hype the death of their own channel like this.

While I agree that this is kind of a shitty announcement, I'm actually stoked because as of tomorrow, i'm getting directv at my new place (in a remote fucking corner of the US), and for whatever reason they cant give me NBC, CBS, ABC, or FOX. So I guess for the .05% of the population that's in one wierd ass position with their cable company and wants to watch Heroes, this is great news!

I'm glad for the TechTV in Canada. We won't be subject to this show because TechTV will only show Tech or Gaming content which means they won't buy the rights to show Heroes in Canada at the same time as G4 in the US. I would rather watch The Lab with Leo for the hundredth time than watch Heroes.
