G1 Starscream coming to Transformers: RotF in DLC pack photo

Luxoflux has revealed that Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen will be getting a downloadable expansion pack, one that contains a few items that could have rescued the game from a cruel 4.5 review on Destructoid. Chief among the additions is Starscream as he was always meant to be -- appearing in his glorious Generation 1 form. 

G1 Starscream is but one of ten brand new characters that the pack is adding. A number of new characters will also be available for single-player as well as the multiplayer modes. Speaking of multiplayer, there will be three new maps to keep things spicy. As if that wasn't enough, there will be a new Expert difficulty level, new leaderboard challenges and even new Achievements/Trophies. 

No word on a price yet, but I'm legitimately impressed by the wealth of content being made available, considering this is a licensed games, and such titles are often made to be forgotten. The simple inclusion of G1 Starscream is enough to make me happy ... I love Starscream more than my own wife.

As he is my favorite character, I am buying this game at bargain price, period.

I've wanted a G1 Star Scream to play with since I was a kid. The question is, will StarScream's ghost DLC be following?

Starscream sucked in RotF. Just chilling in space... you wouldn't even have known it was him had he not said it in the first minute.

It's funny that every Transformer had cybertronian designs in the first episode of G1, and then the creators decided to have them come to Earth and mimic real life vehicles to familiarize them more with the audience (oh, and because the toy designs were easier to make).

My one great hope is that Soundwave will play a bigger role in the next movie, thus justifying him as a playable character in the corresponding game adaptation, who will then be the subject of a DLC enabling you play him with his G1 design, who can also deploy his various tape-minions at will.

Is that so much to ask?

I like the new Transformers. I think they were well designed and animated, and they actually seemed to put some effort into making their transformed shapes make sense. So Starscream was quite stocky, since the F-22 jet is fairly short and wide.

However, modernized old-style Starscream = WIN. That is some cool shit.

This is a bit off topic, but isn't calling a 4.5 review "cruel" sort of perpetuating the idea of a five to ten review scale, where five is bad? While a 4.5 isn't good, it shouldn't be viewed as bad either, and regardless of any of that, it's not a cruel score if it is the score it deserved. It would be cruel if you gave a good game a low score, but a mediocre game getting a mediocre score? That's just fair.

Actually I would think any game that gets a 4.5 sucks.

I still look at it like it's school, and a 65 is passing. A 45 is failing and failing hard.

a few things...

Starscream is a pussy. That's his character.

The designs are actually better in htis movie, because the designers where influenced A LOT by TF:Animated (instead of tall lanky robots, more bulbous, defined shapes, colors, etc).

Basterdizing classic Characters??? You must have been asleep for the past 20 years, because, with that logic, they've bastadized the designs in every show that wasn't g1. Look at Movieverse as another adaption, much like Beastwars, RID, Unicron Saga, etc.

@Jim. Way to go bro, I'm glad you've finally got off the TF Hate Train. And I love the quote. Is it bad that I actually read that in Leonard Nemoy's voice?

They need to make a game based on the old cartoons, even though i did like the movie'..in my opinion(maybe cuz im a transformers geek) the older stuff is better.

Any news on other G1 skins? I want bumblebee, ironhide, ratchet, megatron, every goddamn character in G1. Every transformer in these movies is grotesque and shameful. And we need a prime skin without stupid flames.
