Full Power Gig setlist plays favorites photo

Seven45 Studios has revealed the full soundtrack for its upcoming music title, Power Gig: Rise of the Six String, and I hope you like Eric Clapton, Dave Matthews Band, and Kid Rock.

Those particular artists have exclusively licensed their music for use in Power Gig, and Seven45 studios is taking advantage of the agreements by putting multiple songs from the artists on the disc. Clapton fans can play along with "Layla," "Lay Down Sally," and "Let It Rain." Dave Matthews scores "Tripping Billies," "Why I Am," and "Funny the Way It Is." Kid Rock (who, according to a Seven45 rep during a pre-E3 event, "no one is more authentic than") gets "Rock N' Roll Jesus," "Son of Detroit," and "All Summer Long" on the disc.

The disc will feature 70 tracks, and they are admittedly pretty diverse, with bands ranging from Queens of the Stone Age to Black Sabbath, The Black Keys to A Perfect Circle. John Mayer also makes his debut in a music game, and he gets a few tracks on the disc, too. Seven45 also promises more tracks to come, with downloadable content already being planned.

How do you think Power Gig's selections compare to the Guitar Hero: Warriors of Rock and Rock Band 3 tracks?

This game is pretty much doomed.

Especially if they insist on using that utterly retarded 'air drum' they showed during one of their big gameplay demonstrations.

Glad to see I want to conquer the world, not digging too much of the rest of the track list. Probably gonna pass on this game, and hope for Kyoto Now/Recipe for Hate/I want to conquer the world to come Rock Band.

No "yodeling in the valley"? NO SALE!
Not to sound like a hater but Clapton isn't that great. I have to listen to classic rock all day at work and that painfully long outtro on Layla makes me want to jam my pry bar through my ears.

That setlist has about 20 songs I have desperately wanted in other games for so long now (Bombtrack, Crack the Skye, Couldn't Stand the Weather, Strange Times, among others), but then the rest of it is just garbage. If it worked with my current controllers, I'd happily pick up a disc alone, not the peripherals (RB3's Pro Mode has me by the balls), but since it only works with the new stuff, they've lost a sale.

Still, this will sell to moms and dads who want to see their kids learn real guitar and are unaware of Pro Mode in RB3, so good on them for that, then.

Okay, I was completely unprepared to find a header image of Kid motherfucking Rock at the top of the site.

"no one is more authentic than?" Authentically what? Authentically garbage rap-rock?

Sorry. I'm having a 90's southern california flashback. Somewhere right now a radio station is playing this guy back-to-back with Bone Thugz. I gotta go outside. Old scars. Warn me next time, dammit.

This setlist is already 90 times better than RB3 (I don't think its possible to make a worse setlist right now) but I'm still scared. I'll probably buy it though if I can use my RB pro guitar.

If this were a Rock Band game or even a Guitar Hero game, I would have been very excited for the inclusion of Mastodon. As it stands, this game has far too much John Mayer to warrant a purchase (God damn, one is enough, you don't need three). Swing and a miss, Power Gig, hit the showers.

I think this setlist is about as good as RB3s. This one has some great songs, but most of it is shit, whereas RB3 is mediocore all around (with SOME great songs). But RB3 has RBN, DLC and I already have peripherals and MOTHERFUKING keyboard. So yeah, screw you, Powergig!

it should be called, "fuck you little jitling who don't know shit about music other then what mtv plays just for you."

this is actually gonna be a great game just for the fact that you can take what you learn from it and use it in the real world. is rock band or guitar hero doing that for ya with their little baby plastic fake guitars that have 5 buttons and no strings?

Huh, the first half of this song list is pretty awesome.

Either way, my dollars go to rock band until shown that other companies can chart as well as harmonix can on expert guitar. well, I guess now that pro mode is coming out that'll be the gold standard.

I'll give this game some mad props for having Bombtrack and Millionaire, but there's no way I'll ever buy it. Why? A little game called Rock Revolution comes to mind.

They didn't have me until I saw The Get Up Kids.

And then I was excited.

And then I remembered it was Power Gig, and everything I've seen about it has looked shitty.

But... The Get Up Kids. :(

WHY CAN'T I HAVE MORE THAN ONE TGUK SONG IN ROCK BAND? UGH.

I like the setlist (Layla? HELL YES!), but I don't know about the game. To me, I can't stand the way the notes are presented on the screen, ala Rock Revolution :(

Half of the tracks, I'm loving. Half of the tracks I have no idea what it is. I can't say the same for RB3 which has a few tracks I like and some other stuff I'm not familiar with.

Unfortunately, this game won't have the polish of RB3 or that sweet Squire. I might get this with the inevitable price drop in the near future. This game has no chance against the marketing of both EA AND MTV that back up RB3...

I'm really torn on this. If they somehow get the RB Pro Mode guitars to work with this, I'll get it. As it stands, I'm only liking half the setlist, and I'm already buying RB3. Maybe after a price drop.

What the fuck, Harmonix. Get APC in Rock Band, STAT.
