Nintendo has launched the full version of the Wii Opera browser, affectionately known as the Internet Channel.

The full version is improved from the trial version users were already familiar with. New features include a manual zoom and a built-in search engine functionality (which is customizable).

According to the press release, early birds are in luck. The full version of the Internet Channel will be available until June 30. After that, you're going to have to cough up 500 Wii points. Browsing the Internet or Urban Champion? Tough call.
Nintendo News: Full Internet Channel Now Available for Wii

Search, surf and shop with family and friends, all from the comfort of your living room with the Internet Channel on Wii(TM). Featuring a number of enhancements to improve the user experience as well as a host of added extras, the full version of the Internet Channel powered by Opera is now available for free download across North America.

Fans of the innovative Wii channels already will be familiar with the Internet Channel, which delivers their high-speed Internet access via their television sets.  Based on feedback from Wii owners, Nintendo has created a new and enhanced version of the browser featuring improvements to the user experience as well as a performance upgrade.

Users of the trial version will notice the improved usability of the full version.  The browser now features a manual zoom, in addition to the automatic mode available in the previous version, allowing more viewing flexibility.
When zooming in and out of a page, text is kept crisp and readable at all sizes.  The new version of the Internet Channel also features improved scrolling functionality, as well as the collapsible toolbars and multiple on-screen cursors.

As search functions have become an essential part of our everyday Internet experience, the Internet Channel now features a built-in function allowing users to search without having to select a search engine each time.  Wii owners are given the choice of either Google or Yahoo! Search as a pre-selected search engine to power their built-in search button.  The selection can be changed at any time, or a different search engine can be used by typing in that search engine's address.  Users also will have the ability to easily access Nintendo, Yahoo!, Google and My Opera from pre-loaded bookmarks.

The full version of the Internet Channel is available as a free download through June 30, after which it will cost 500 Wii Points. Once downloaded, the Internet Channel is free for the lifetime of the system.

So shouldn't cost money now? j/k

The Shop Channel update that came down with it killed my Wiimote!
Tried resyncing, resetting bluetooth, removing/replacing batteries. Unplugging the console for a minute fixed it... just in case anyone has the same problem.

I wonder if you can turn off the little vibration whenever you go over something clickable. That kills batteries sumthin' fierce.

@Nex: I was actually kinda sad that pornotube still doesn't work :(

I like the improvements they've made. The browser is much quicker now. There is finally an option to manage cookies, which I found as a pleasant surprise.

@tehArtist: You still have to download the channel from the Wii Shop.

Oni: There's far better places than pornotube...

I'm glad this is out now, it'll make me miss my mac less... (it's in the shop for a bad video card...)

Thank god for the shlubs who post full TV shows to daily motion.

Anyone notice how much faster it started up?

NSFW...

And Daily Motion does work on the Wii. Just not in full screen mode.

It really is much nicer. I always found the trial version to be very annoying, with a small black spot at the top and giant bar at the bottom. I'm glad it's full-screen for me now and lets you get rid of the now-smaller bar.

I just downloaded it before jumping into a Super Paper Mario session. Not sure why, since I never use the Wii to surf the web. Guess I'm a sucker for the freebies.
