Full DS game downloads coming to Wii network photo

Everyone remember about a month ago when Nintendo announced their "Everyone's Nintendo Channel"? It featured videos, interviews, and -- seemingly most importantly -- DS demos for wireless download. Yeah? Fantastic. Most people, on hearing about "Everyone's Nintendo Channel" remarked that it was a fairly neat idea, and that it had potential, that being of full DS title downloads.

Those keen eyed oracles of inevitable development are soon to be rewarded with a round of watercooler gloatery, thanks to Reggie Fils-Aime. The New York Times reports the Nintendo exec of stating full DS title download via the Wii is soon to come and further makes mention of a "new DS device" saying specifically, "Mr. Fils-Amie said that future DS device will be more tightly integrated with its Wii console. Complete games as well as game samplers will be able to be downloaded into the Wii using its broadband connection, and then transferred wirelessly to the DS."

Not only will full titles be available for download, but puzzle expansions for titles such as Professor Layton and the Curious Village will also be made available, along with (I'm sure) additional content expansions for other upcoming games. The expansion and progression of interactivity between the Wii and DS is likely to continue the domination the DS has been enjoying as top selling hand held. Now if only we could get better titles for the thing, I might be able to use it as something other than a portable Geometry Wars player.

It's a damn good thing you mentioned your obviously poor taste in games at the end of the article, or I would have stopped then and there with a "GTFO."

Your cool as heck name does not make up for ignoring the DS' awesome library, and this is coming from a PSP fangirl, even.

Also, I wholeheartedly endorse Quail Futon.

But MaxVest he is complaining about the DS's library of games...what was I supposed to do?! Nah, I'm not trying to be mean, that picture just freaked me out. :P I'm just a normal guy so all of those fancy pieces of metal penetrating his various orifices scare me, not to mention the ones that I'm sure remain unseen in that picture!

One might say that his criticism of the DS library is like a glowing weak spot that one cannot help but attack for massive damage.

But maybe he is an incognito cyborg from the future, and those metal bits are his data ports. That would be pretty cool.

What's Crazy is that you could to this with a psp back in 2005, but you could do it anywhere with WiFi. I wonder what future alien tech they will implement next, phone calls over internet? Nowayz!

So you need a Wii to do this? Lame.

Why don't they just sell an official SD adapter and let me download games from the internet? If the answer is piracy - guess what, it's already happening. Provide an official option or people will pirate.

Also, in after "the DS has plenty of great titles". Try not to suck again Mr. Futon.

While I remember seeing the tip you sent in a lot of other people have been sending in the same news (including yours truly, in fact I actually sent it in about two minutes before you did ;) ) over the past few days and a lot of other sites have been covering it. I find it very probable that Qais heard about the news from somewhere/someone else.

@TheGoldenDonut:

I could have sent it earlier but I wanted to send it with a decent writeup and Photoshop of my own in my C-Blog. I thought that would stand out more than just a link to the Times...plus I just wanted to write something up.

And why did it take them four days to post this? There's been a lot of time with no updates so it wasn't like there was a news overload. I've seen tips get credited before (especially when there is a C-Blog about it) so I was just wondering what the official word on how that works was. Then Niero came in and cleared things up.

You'll have to forgive my friend Mr. Fulton and his DS-bashing foolery. As a Weekly Geek Editor, I can attest to our boss man - the ruthless Chris Furniss - and his constant verbal torture of Qais. The resulting mental scarring is a bit like watching the Richard Dawkins/Ms. Garrison Sex Scene from South Park in an unrelenting loop. It's enough to drive even the mindfully soundest insane.
