Full album downloads coming to Rock Band starting next week photo
     PS3

The first full album downloads for Rock Band will be hitting consoles next week. Three albums have been announced so far and the first will be Judas Priest's Screaming for Vengeance. The plan looks to be that one full album will be released each month. Cars' The Cars will be coming out next month in May and Pixies' Doolittle will be coming out in June.

Judas Priest's Screaming for Vengeance will run you $15 for all ten tracks and you can also buy the tracks individually for $1.99. Screaming for Vengeance will be available next Tuesday for Live and next Thursday for the PSN. With the news of the new album downloads, Harmonix also reminded us that Rock Band has seen over 8 million downloads since the release on both the PS3 and Xbox 360.

Now you just got to wonder why Rock Band's competition isn't doing something similar ... So who's looking forward to the full album downloads?

Not really that big of a fan of the idea, to be honest. There aren't that many albums off of which I'd like to play 8 songs, which is how many I'd have to want to make it worth it.

As long as they keep throwing out the three scattered tracks, I don't mind. But if the albums start replacing potentially smaller bundles, I'll be annoyed.

I’m elated to see that they’re finally putting out some full albums, but I don’t particularly care for either of the three artists/albums they mentioned. And where’s my Nevermind and Who’s Next? Also, The Blue Album. And any Green Day album aside from Insomniac would be awesome. And some Radiohead. Or the Eagles. How about John Mayer’s Continuum? I could go on forever...

Oh well, Electric Eye was one of the only songs worth playing in Rocks the 80s.

Ugh. I really don't like Judas Priest and I'd have to go listen to that Cars album to know if I'd be in to it, but Pixies Doolittle = Fuck Yeah!!. I really hope they get some newer stuff in there though (I want Bloc Party SOOO bad) since there seems to have been a disproportionate amount of classic/old rock in the DLC lately. I'm just glad that they're rolling out the albums finally though.

"Wave of Mutilation" is one of my favorite songs on Rock Band, so it's nice to see some more Pixies.

@GuitarAtomik
Bloc Party would be amazing in this game, and since "Helicopter" was in Guitar Hero my hopes are up.

From a Kotaku Q and A session
"What happened to The Who?

We will have a specific announcement about that coming up soon regarding some work that we have coming down the pike with The Who in general that I think people are gonna be pretty happy about...and in general what you're gonna see sorta deep dives with particular artists, where with some artists...of the appropriate stature, you'll see us doing more than whole albums, potentially even entire catalogs.
Entire Catalogs, the Who's Entire Catalog? Oh, Dear God.

Awesome Spanish rock song right here: http://youtube.com/watch?v=xgYhTMkOU-o&

I'm with Samit. Please release just all of Muse's discography. I would lose a month playing those songs. Muse is incredible. AAAGGGHHH. I want to play Muse on something other than Guitar Hero. I want to play those kickass drum parts. Especially in Maps of the Problematique. That would be the shit.

Are you familiar with the term, DOES NOT COMPUTE?

This is making me concerned. I LOVE the idea of playing full albums, but the chances of Harmonix actually picking my favorite albums are very slim. I also really, REALLY don't want shitty new bands selling Harmonix their horrible albums as download content. I want a mix of quality and quanity. I'm whiny.

Didn't they say they got Metallica to agree to an album release?
Didn't the yalso say One was going to be DLC? It's just nto as good playing on GH3 as it would be on RB.

Also, FUCK YES, finally. Now just get an Alice in Chains album or Ten by Pearl jam and we're on rock patrol.
