Frontlines: Fuel of War multiplayer demo released on Xbox Live photo

If the single-player demo for Frontlines: Fuel of War left a bad taste in your mouth, don't let that discourage you from trying out the game's multiplayer demo that's up on the Xbox Live Marketplace right now.

As far as I'm concerned, you can't compare the demos to one another -- they're like two totally seperate games in regards to quality and polish.

Included in the demo are two maps: one is a city area that supports up to 16 players, the other is an oilfield that allows 32 players to go at it, while throwing in land and air vehicles at the same time.

And if you're worried about the whole lag situation that's plagued many Xbox 360 games already, don't be. For once, the servers are dedicated.

Dedicated servers!?! On XBL? At not additional fee!! I may have to check this out. While I love that the peer to peer nature of the other games ensures that the multiplayer components can never be "shut down," the option to play peer to peer on via dedicated servers is magnificent.

It actually isnt too bad. The single player demo sucked a dead bums asshole. But this is a fairly tactical game, some teamwork involved. The shitty thing though is you can only talk to 4 people at a time and you have to set your squads up on the fly in game

The multiplayer demo is completely different from the god awful single player demo. Vehicle controls are still spotty but the different classes and abilities are great and the frontlines game type is intense. The street level is pretty impressive graphically as well. The only thing I didn't like is that you don't automatically talk to everyone on your team. You have to invite people on your team to be part of your squad in order for you to communicate with them. I understand that 32 players all talking at once would increase lag and take up a lot of bandwith though so its a necessary evil. If they tighten up the single player this will actually be worth buying.

I'm not sure, but I believe this was always intended to be a multiplayer-centric game. I think the only thing they've done before this is a mod for BF1942.

Dedicated servers? Whattt?! Deep down, where I'm still a PC gamer, a part of me just wept for joy.

the controls in the other demo were questionable so this would make this demo a questionable meh game?

Holy dooley, this is fun! It's like playing a legit game of BF2 on your 360! I thought the SP demo was mega-lame but the MP demo is going to be getting a decent amount of playtime I think.

I just tried it and it's not too bad. Of course, I've played WAY too many games much like this one to really have much interest for it. But for what it is, it's good. It's probably the closest thing to a true Battlefield experience on 360. I mean, since the BF games that were on 360 previously didn't do so hot.

Downloaded and played it last night. It was meh at best. Different classes were cool and attacking people with drones was different. Learning curve was steep, staying on foot was mostly pointless, and vehicles were vulnerable. Lots of dying.

@teach:
"Lots of dying" is not equal to making a meh game. Your inability to play an action game online against non-AI opponents is plenty entertaining... to those who are shooting you.
