THQ is holding a really neat contest for their game Frontlines: Fuel of War that is set to come out some time next year (with a demo on the way next month for the Xbox 360). In order to win, you need to sign up at Frontlines' Web site and search for ten hidden passwords. Winners will get a free copy of the game and chance to fly in a fighter plane. You can also invite friends to play and if one of them wins, so do you.
Admittedly, I have never heard of this game before until a few hours ago. The contest seems really cool but the game really creeps me out. It looks to be your standard future war shooter, but some of the promo videos on Frontlines' site paints a disturbing picture. Gas is nearly gone, high energy consumption, the Avian flue, Depression, riots, war with Russia and China -- Pretty much all the scary sh*t people worry about and what you hear on the daily news. There's also some gameplay footage where you can watch the Army use RC Copters and RC Cars to blow stuff up with more video and screenshots at THQ's site.
What do you all think about this game?
Hamza Aziz, Destructoid's Community Director, has been here since day one. He was born when a tiger coughed up a hairball into a pool of ooze. He was one of the original Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles before budget cuts. Hamza works as a previews editor and manages a team in San Francisco. To date he has given away tens of thousands of dollars in prizes to readers. What a dick. Actually, Hamza is as kind as he is hairy.

Destructoid is an open discussion community. You don't need to "audition" to post a comment - just speak your mind. We respect differing opinions on the site, so have at it. Be smart, funny, insightful, clueless, or cute -- but back it up with substance. Keep your cool, keep it fun. We only ask that you act respectfully and above all: don't be a troll and ruin it for everyone else. Don't bring down gamers or we'll, you know, gently shoot you in the face and stuff you into a flaming mailbox. Each comment is your opportuntity to make this community awesomer. Is that even a word?
Avoiding the banhammer only requires common sense: spamming, trolling, racism, NSFW stuff, and other forms of sucking will not be tolerated. If anyone is griefing please report abuse. Be good. Don't suck!
And you get to fly drones.
Scenario look bleak as shit though... Although it might be a window to the future...
...damnit! I fail at PAX!
...i loled.
i love my 360 but i'm really considering not buying another 360 because i now feel like countless others who've had the red ring REALLY PISSED OFF!!!
Theres a MP beta currently going on. while it plays very rough (its a true beta, not a PR gimmick), the glimpses of the potential are there. much of what people complain about in games such as Battlefield are addressed here and done so very elegantly.
Seriously, that shit ruins games for me.
What I mean is, the storyline isn't developed well enough, they don't give you a good enough reason to play other than to show your loyalty to the red white and blue.
Vandam, happy to be Canadian :D
In a free economy as things become more scarce they become more expensive. Once gas starts to become more expensive two big 'coping' mechanisms kick in : it becomes affordable to recover oil that is too expensive to get right now, and other sources of energy become affordable.
Oil isn't popular because it's the only source of energy in the world : it's popular because it's the cheapest source of energy in the world. If it quits being cheap it will no longer be popular.
