There you have it. Above you'll see the box art for the PS3 and Xbox 360 versions of Square Enix's Front Mission Evolved. They passed those along this morning along with a few new screenshots, which you'll find in the gallery below.
Strategy role-playing goes right out the window of your huge mech as you'll actually get into the action this time, stomping around and blowing sh*t up. My interest grew greatly after our Q&A with Square Enix producer Shinji Hashimoto. Fellow SRPG nerds might have some hesitation going from menus to melee, but you have to admit that this game looks really good.
Speaking of looking, game art is being dropped on the game's official Facebook page. There's some great stuff there that's definitely worth checking out.

Destructoid is an open discussion community. You don't need to "audition" to post a comment - just speak your mind. We respect differing opinions on the site, so have at it. Be smart, funny, insightful, clueless, or cute -- but back it up with substance. Keep your cool, keep it fun. We only ask that you act respectfully and above all: don't be a troll and ruin it for everyone else. Don't bring down gamers or we'll, you know, gently shoot you in the face and stuff you into a flaming mailbox. Each comment is your opportuntity to make this community awesomer. Is that even a word?
Avoiding the banhammer only requires common sense: spamming, trolling, racism, NSFW stuff, and other forms of sucking will not be tolerated. If anyone is griefing please report abuse. Be good. Don't suck!
I have high hopes though, just can't see it being a day 1 purchase quite yet.
I'm curious Dale, do you know if this is being developed on the PS3, or 360? I would be curious as to which is the lead development console. It will determine which console I buy it on (if I choose to).
It's eyes.....they crave a mother's love.
Quick, I need my old wedding dress and some ham.

A Front mission game since Gun Hazard that lets you pilot Wanzers? YES PLEASE!
Wait a second - it's an action game? It's being developed by Double Helix Games, of G.I.Joe: The Rise of Cobra fame?
How To Ruin A Franchise In One Game, starring Square Enix.
Plus, who doesn't love giant robots blowing the ever-loving crap out of each other?
I say we give it a solid chance before we poo-poo it into oblivion.
It might be worth getting if the action's really strategic, that's one thing Armored Core always did poorly since even the "tanks" can fly around at 1500 kph. Great duelling game, but not the sort of thing where you get to punish your enemies with good teamwork or holding strategic terrain.
There's been little fanfair about this game, but I for one hope it turns out well, especially with Square not really waving the flag for it as much they do for FFXIII. Could be a sleeper hit in the making, and bring this series back into gamers view.
Armored Core needs a challenger. I'll check the blogs on FME.
Did that online FM game ever happen?
Yeah, it did, but it was Japan only, and has been shut down since May '08.

Bought my copy the day it came out. Most folks that are into Front Mission in the here comment thread probably did too. It wasn't fans of the series that failed, it was lack of name recognition. It's hard to sell a game so deep into a franchise's history without established brand loyalty and all that junk.
@everybody else that seems pretty excited about this game
If'n it's good, we oughta get a Dtoid squad thing goin!
