The above picture is a tiny cropped segment of the masterpiece that you can find attached to the bottom of this post. It's so monumentally huge (and stuffed full of so many clever details), that I couldn't bring myself to tarnish it with the usual cropping/captioning hackery that I'm known for. Unfortunately, since the whole thing is in Russian, and all of my Cold War-era bids to defect to the Red side of the curtain were met with denial, denial and mysterious radiation poisoning, respectively, I have almost no idea what the purpose of this picture is. Is it an ad? Is it one fan's unrequited love letter to a cold, unfeeling industry? Or is it something far more sinister? Much like how many licks it takes to get to the center of Lenin's tomb, the world may never know ... [Via Blue's News]

a year of russian class. here it goes. the title read out "naveegator eegrovogo meera" navigate. something to do with playing. and a measurement. i feel pretty useless. i cant discern what that means.
This is awesome, something I can ogle and completely deconstruct at work tomorrow.
I LOVE IT
its style is great
needs moar ninty
what? PC only?
hmph... ok
Reminds me kinda of those crowd gags by Sergio Aragonés from MAD Magazine, nice.
please tell me it says for sale somewhere on that magnificent piece, i must own one post haste!
This is undiluted win.
that is fuckin dope as fuck!
lots of point and click love going on in that pic.
Also....MDK, obscure?
Wonderful how the artist focused on classic gems and less-known but still brilliant games. A treat for my weary game-soaked eyeballs.
That's simply awesome!
rofl @ Marle from Chrono Trigger with Leisure Suit Larry
its not all in russian,
a little guy at the top is holding a sign that reads:
NO MORE WINDS!
AHAHA thats fucking brilliant because it looks like he is
being blown around by the wind and he....
ahhhhhhhhhh ok its not really that funny.
In case there are takers to do a clean version:

(Any photoshopers in the house?)
This picture is from Game Magazine , "Game world navigator"
http://gamenavigator.ru/
w00t! discworld refrence :P
I'm pretty sure that isn't Marle from Chrono Trigger. It looks more like the chick from the Everquest box art.
Love the FF7 square. Sepiroth and Aeris with a fake sword and ketchup bottle. Lolz.
Is it possible for any single person to know everything which is in that picture?
The Knight from armed & dangerous having tea with Alice and Pyramid head? This is a person that loves PC games. Gawd Bless 'em.
Count the wind-up mammoths.
I got 18.
I saw a few Dungeon Master 2 chacters, that game rawked.
This is simply awesome. Kudos to the artist.
Haha, I especially loved Sarge and the UT guy running past each other with the flags from both games, and the Quake ranger below kicks ass too.
also notable Max Payne and the Matrix chick in bullet time
FF7 was a laugh as well :D
hahaha, yeah, the FF7 reference is great! laughing at cloud is wonderful! :P
Who's the little guy Abe/Munch is talking to? It's really bothering me.
Bottom right corner, in the swinging cage, thats Lester and "Buddy" from Out of this World. God I loved that game.
I think the women with Leisure Suit Larry are (from L to R) Princess Peach, Everquest box art girl, the chick from No One Lives Forever (in the sequel's cover outfit), Lara Croft, the purple chick is presumably the Night Elf chick from WoW unless some one has a better idea, and the blond chick on the pole is beyond me. She could be anyone, couldn't she?
To Larry's left, anyone else think "Cupid" is actually supposed to be Kid Icarus? It would make more sense, wouldn't it? And who is the chick in the ball gag with the Earthworm Kim chick and the other unknown girl in red?
Just to the right of Larry, did anyone else notice Frogger got run over by the guy (which by the way pisses me off I don't recognize who that guy is) fighting with Master Chief? CLASSIC!
Sorry, this image is just too much to handle. Hahaha.
Kane watering Tiberium! I love that this is PC oriented.
@Just to the right of Larry, did anyone else notice Frogger got run over by the guy (which by the way pisses me off I don't recognize who that guy is) fighting with Master Chief?
hmm, looks like the guy from the carmageddon box art. I could be wrong tho.
btw, who is the dude scything there right to Grim Fandango and Horny(if that was his name, the Dungeon Keeper guy by all means)?
Not made by me, but hey, i made it "public" ;)
Here is a faster backup:
http://pici.se/pictures/KyBrbwMeq.jpg
where are the Zombinis from The Logical Journey of the Zombinis??
<img src="http://www.childrenssoftwareonline.com/p_pics/zoombinis2_thumb.jpg">
Anything with Worms' Armageddon and Monkey Island on the same page makes me smile with delight.
As for the ones which still haven´t got a caption. The girl with ball gag and the cupid are from Messiah, Cthulhu's secretary is from Nox and I belive that the girl in right top corner is Kate Walker from Syberia. However it is still boggling me, who is the juggling robot/demon thing behind the Tentacle.
Cool picture and quite clever too. Gee, it has Earthworm Jim with the head of worm from Dune who is going to eat worm from Worms ;-) and Simon the Sorcerer followed by the Luggage. I have just spent entire hour examining it.
Only thing I'm really missing is Clayman.
FUCKING EPIC!!!!
MMM Lucasarts references
This guy winds the internet.
That guy in the top right with the scynthe is Patrick from Clive Barker's Undying
http://www.clivebarker.com/images/undying/screens/Patrick&Jeremiah2.jpg
The little guy in the bottom left is actually a norn, not a grendel :) The grendels are the bad guys in that game.
The Title says: "Navigator of the game world 2005". I think it says everything you need to know to understand what is what.
the dude with the giant sword pointing the gun to nemesis' head is the Barbarian from Severance: Blade Of Darkness imho
I think the lass in the upper right is Kate Walker from Syberia...
oops... and i think all the toy elephants are a homage to Syberia, as well.
The digger with the $ flag above April Ryan and to the right of Snake from Metal Gear is from an old 80's PC game called "Digger': it kinda played like Dig Dug, but more fun. :P
Oh man, I just noticed Minsc and Boo down at the bottom!
hmm it looks more like a hydralisk than a lurker
i think the guy running away from megaman and friends is labeled wrong ("caleb/blood"). kinda looks like an infected terran, but not.
damn that pic with all the names. i was so proud of myself for id'ing malcolm and the guy from painkiller...
I found Waldo!
>i think the guy running away from megaman and friends is labeled wrong ("caleb/blood"). kinda looks like an infected terran, but not.
I think is a solo from S.T.A.L.K.E.R, they need the bolts you know...
He he, that's a poster from Russian game magazine - Game Navigator. Direct translation is - Navigator of Gaming World. PC Only and Forewer is somekind of devise. What else? I may check the name of author, he is working now in some game development company. And yes, he is a fan of games. =)
The John Romero Head! Wow, that is so obscure and so clever, you had to noclip into the head of the devil in order to see that! Creatures? I didn't know anyone else played that game... The Might and Magic Adventurers, the Syberia Mammoths, BEYOND GOOD AND EVIL! It's just too much!
Yo!
Let me chip in some:
* Jade's sign says "All men are pigs"
* Sam and Max do a russian joke that I can not fathom explaining to people who didnt grow up there
* Comrade Ivan is saying "god damn capitalists"
* Abe (though I am for some reason sure it's Invader Zim) says "follow me", in a deliberate russian transliteration of English, poking fun at overuse of the phrase in games
* Cthulhu is not related to games. It's an ongoing joke in russian internet subculture. Ctulhu comes and eats you. The sign on his wall says "Yo we're looking for talent"
* The indicator above the clone soldier says "Clone/Not clone"
* The sign next to the Syndicate character says "Will work for implants"
* The signs on the vault door say "Authorized personnel only", "No donations" and "bail" (as in GTFO).
* Nova is carrying a paper saying "Expelled", and the arrow above her head says "Exit"
* Raziel says to Malak, "No, /I/ shall show you the dark side of the force"
* The Daikatana crew holds a sign that says, I shit you not, "Will ruin reputation of a cult game developer. Expensive."
* The flying skull next to Othello is a reference to an old DOS 286 game whose name I can't recall - had something to do with thunderbolt or gods or something. It was a platform adventure where you had to manipulate traps. The skull is very distinctively styled.
* The crab sign refers to a game called "Vangers". The sign itself says "Escave", which is some sort of territory in the game. I'm being told Stalker is heavily influenced by concepts of Vangers. I never played it, so I dont know.
Okay, a few words about the artisit. His name is Daniil Kuzmichev, and he can be found here - www.dahr.ru.
He's been working for about a decade in game journalism as an illustrator and a comic book artist and writer. Currently he is affiliated with the magazine "Game World Navigator", and he himself can be seen on the poster in the upper left corner on a bench (the one with the blue skin) with the editor of said magazine, Konstantin Podstreshniy. By the way, the purple lady next to Larry is Sex from his comic book project "Sex, Violence and Rock'n'Roll".
http://dahr.ru/06navi.htm - examples of his work for the magazine. The posters themselves are drawn for the annual issues, if I am not mistaken.
And another poster - http://dahr.ru/n_75.htm
- Sam&Max are not Sam&Max really. They are Petka & Vassily Ivanovich costumed as Sam&Max. Petka and Vassily Ivanovich are popular russian folklore characters and heroes of many jokes. Also they are the heroes of some russian comic adveture games. BTW, historically they are Vassily Ivanovich Chapaev, legendary Red Army commander, and his assistant Petr Isaev. They became famous after the historic novel 'Chapaev' by D.Furmanov.
- Running dude with whole lot of bolts and nuts is Marked One from 'S.T.A.L.K.E.R.'.
- Girl with clockwork mammoth (upper right corner) is Kate Walker from Benoit Sokal's 'Syberia'.
Im not shure if someone notice: women with broken arm and all is from "SilentHill 4". The one that riding the mammoth in the middle bottom, is from "Etherlords". And the one in the middle up, that dances, is from "Pirates!" where was too much dancing... The little round guy near commander Zod's head? is SPUTNIK from Scrapland. And under the Q2 berserker is the Panzerklein from Operation Silent Storm. The one with "No more winds" poster related to TES3 Morrowind. The purple girl near Larry is from author's original comix, and a little skull with bandana near the Scorpion's head, too.
This needs to be on my wall.
Oh wow! He has a reference to Malcom from Legend of Kyrandia...what an amazing game!
