Friday Night Fights: Summer drought edition

Friday Night Fights: Summer drought edition photo
     PC

If only good games could be released throughout the entire year, rather than being bunched together during the November/December rush to get stuff out the door in time for Christmas.

For starters, we wouldn't have to skip out on certain games in place for others as a result of a tight budget, and we'd also have something new to play during the dreaded summer period that's home to shovelware and movie tie-ins.

Seeing as how that's probably never going to happen, it looks like we're stuck with the same old, same old for Friday Night Fights. Hit the jump for the host listings.

Mini-guide for meeting up with Dtoiders for Super Smash Bros. Brawl or Mario Kart Wii:

The IRC way: head on over to this Web site (or start up your own IRC client) and type "/join #dtoid-brawl" without the quotation marks.

The Ventrilo way: download and install Vent. Then use the following info to log onto Dtoid's server:

• IP/Hostname: VOICE-VA2.BRANZONE.COM
• Port: 3790
• Password: None

Once you're in, you'll need to use the password "ftw" to access the Social Lounge.

The 360 way: use your Xbox 360 to chat with people on your friends list. Steam or IM will work fine too.

    Games
  • Agent MOO: Maximum Overdeath
  • Team Fortress 2:
There's been a whole lot of Internet drama surrounding certain community members and this game, so from here on out, I will unfortunately no longer be promoting any servers.

If you own a TF2 server and would like to get the word out, please feel free to do so by making a comment on this post or by creating a community blog. I'm sorry if you are affected by this new ruling and weren't responsible for causing it, but that's just the way it's going to be.

WEEEEE6 and Mecha Monkey, I am having difficulty sending you messsages over Live. According to MS, your gamertags are not valid. Please message my GT, P0WER GL0VE, so that I can invite you.

Those are zeros not Os.

Eh, what's with the PC TF2 junk?

As far as I know the brbuninstalling servers are still doing Friday Night Fights tonight (probably with the password "point", as usual).

Also, what about the offical TF2 D-toid server you guys could do it on?

I really understand the problem here.

You could do what I do, and not buy all the games when they come out. Just buy them as you play them and then when summer comes around you still have games to buy. With the exception of BIG games like GTA and MGS.

Ah, Goddamnit bunnyrabbit2 you have no room in your friends list. Now how am I gonna get into some Halo 3 FNF goodness. Well, if anyone wants to help me out and add me my gamertag is Lunacy55.

Also, I'd love to join some Wii FNF. However, I see no listing for the server for the IRC chat. Am I missing something, seeing as how I don't use IRC too often?

I am down for some xbox action (Call of Duty 4, Gears of War, Grand Theft Auto IV, Halo 3, Guitar Hero III) Gamertag: cejIIIut

Don't have new Halo or COD4 maps so take that into account, down for whatever.

TF2 for PC, on the usual server.

Because it's better to strangle the entire Dtoid PC TF2 FNF community in its crib (~50 players combined between the two communities on any given Friday night) than actually having to demonstrate any skill in leading or bringing the community together.

what happened with TF2? It would be nice to have a second official server for FNF.

@Velt

Drama happened. Some people in the community don't like some other people in the community. Neither side seems to want to just forget about it, both occasionally taking swipes at each other. Then, like Rummy said, the refusal of certain people to actually try and resolve the issues with the community, choosing instead to completely ignore it.

...

In short, there's several servers you can choose from (look here for a few, and here for another one). Unless something has changed, none of the servers are "official" Destructoid TF2 servers. Just servers run by dtoiders who like TF2, a few of which can't play nicely with each other.

Just pick whatever one that fills your fancy, and get to crit rocketing some bitches. ;)
