I wasn't sure what to write about this week so I took to the Twitterverse last night and asked; "What should I write about this week?". Two responses, the first from PanaMusica (host of Hawken!) "Write about robots! I'll host Hawken.", he said. The next from Agidyne64, "Write about the difference between crepes and pancakes. It will be called 'your life with crepes'."
I took inspiration from both suggestions and give you this, an excerpt from my upcoming novel, "Robots, Dead People and Breakfast Pastries - A Tale of Hope". *Side note - I am without a doubt no author. As a matter of fact, what you will read below is pretty awful. You have been warned.
As I stood there, staring out at the charred earth that I once called home, I couldn't help but think about those brave souls who lost their lives that day. Mothers, fathers, brothers and sisters, sons and daughters of this once lush land, gone too soon in a world turned too violent for most if any to survive.
The war had been won, at great cost. Giant machines built by man to defend now heroes of the day, manned by pacifists turned militants not by choice, but out of necessity for the greater good. There would be no songs of hope; no poems written of great deeds, no walls or statues erected in honor of those brave enough to lay down their lives to save the many, for none lived on this day, save for me. And I would not tell this tale.
Looking over the land I once called home, now burning ash fading into the night, I could only bring myself to muster a single thought, “Damn, I wish I had some pancakes right about now, hell I’d even take some crepes, I mean, if done right crepes are ten times better than pancakes, but still, pancakes can be pretty banging with the right syrup…”
Alright! Let's get to the games!
New to FNF? Read this! Each week, a bunch of us Dtoiders get together to play videogames online! It's a 100% community-run event, so feel free to join in or even host something yourself!
The planning for FNF starts in the forums, where community members sign up to host matches and post their pertinent details (game, time, Gamertag, etc.). Then, every Friday, reminder posts go up in the community blogs thanks to a dedicated group of volunteers, and I recap it all here on the front page to give it a bit more exposure.
To join in, simply send a friend request to the match host! If you'd rather host something yourself, sound off in the comments section below!
Free this weekend? Why not sign up to host something for Weekend Warriors?! It's like Friday Night Fights all weekend long! Sign up in the comments or Forum thread if you're interested!
