Ah, Left 4 Dead 2. The last major release for this year on my "why haven't you got this yet?" list.
I figured it would be worth pacing myself with Modern Warfare 2 as the go-to multiplayer game, at least until L4D2 became cheaper during Black Friday or Cyber Monday. On multiple occasions, I was this close to caving in, so I probably won't last much longer.
Seems like I'm in a rare spot, since about 80% of my friends list has made the switch from Infinity Ward to Valve this week, while I'm sitting here trying to get my last ten or so stars in Spec Ops. Those freakin' Juggernauts are cheap, man.
Quick guide to FNF for new players: Each week, a bunch of Destructoid readers and usually an editor or two get together to play some videogames online. Fun times!
The planning for FNF takes place in the forums, where Dtoiders volunteer to host by posting their information (gamertag, time to meet up, game, etc.) in the forum post corresponding to the system they're interested in playing on.
Then, every Friday, reminder posts for those who don't read the forums regularly go up in the community blogs section all thanks to a dedicated group of cool individuals. And for everyone who wants their info all in one place, they have got my weekly recap posts which you are currently reading.
Now that you're here, just scan the list below and find a game you want to play. All that's left to do after that is to join the match by contacting the host below using any means necessary. For Wii, you might have to be a little creative, but for 360/PS3 a simple "invite plz" message will be fine.
If you want to get your gaming done later on in the evening, scroll on down past this section, otherwise hit up the following European hosts/early FNFers for a good time.
@Tarvu - Yeah, I know. It's hard to get these up much earlier when I like waiting on the cblogs. Too much work goes into those for me not to link to them.
I figure leaving him up there listed as a host will let people know that next week, that's likely when he'll be playing again.
Last week my Fiancee was complaining when I tried to play some MW2 with you all so I never got to join in on the fun. Tonight I will be home by myself since the lady has gone on vacation to visit family. Hit me up on xbox live as Affinitia... I should be able to play some matches... whatever you throw at me. I'm down to play Borderlands, MW2, or L4D2, just shoot me an invite to whatever.
I laughed my ass off at the AI in L4D2. I was already dead and my friend was being constricted by a Smoker. Rochelle (stupid bitch) just stood there and watched.
Marphy's videos are always great!
Been having great fun with L4D2, haven't tried single player yet but I'll do it just to see how crazy I can make the AI act.
When it came out I did a single player runthrough of all the campaigns so I could learn the layout. It was almost impossible with the retarded bots. At one point Rochelle wouldn't get in the elevator down to the corn field in Hard Rain. She stood by the entrance, not moving. I had to melee her inside. Not really a big deal, except we were getting raped by a horde at the time.
I guess nobody plays single player extensively, but when you've only got a team of three, it would be nice to have some confidence in the AI.
God, the AI really is horrible in L4D2. Which sucks for me, since I like to play through each campaign once in single-player before moving on to online matches. I can explore at my own pace that way.
Anyways, anyone playing on Steam, add me! I actually won't be playing tonight, but I plan on playing L4D2 for a long time to come.
