You're being sarcastic, right? Right?
5 or 6 million people will probably buy this game, heck probably more like 7 or 8 million, and you're saying it's an insult?
That's a joke, right?
"the same demographic that supported Madden for so long is the same guys who will buy anything with COD on it even shelling out ridiculous prices for every map pack to COD flavored condoms."
Yeah, because it's impossible that people might actually just, you know, enjoy playing the fucking games.
Jesus Christ I am tired of people hating things just because they are popular.
You and I are clearly twins separated at birth. Which is to say, I agree completely.
Personally, I was disappointed by the trailer. It was all flashy and shit. The vibe I got was it was boring and lacked character or personality. Maybe I expected too much. I dunno. Hopefully it gets better because that didn't get me excited at all.
World At War was/still is a great game that me and my wife STILL go back to for the co-op (which almost two years later there's not many games we can say that about since we move on after finishing to the current stuff).
I actually think Treyarch have a better chance at carrying Call Of Duty on than it would have with Infinity because at least Treyarch are interested and, at least by what they say publicly, really excited and into making COD.
There's no reason, given their last Call Of Duty, for this to not be a great game. And I say that with confidence going in blind, little details to Black Ops yet.
But there IS a reason Call Of Duty games ALL sell well (not just Infinity, Treyarch sells in the multiple millions) is so far they've all been fun. People buy because they like it, not because it has the words Call Of Duty on it.
Put out a truly crappy game, it won't sell. Look at Halo Wars and Halo: ODST. They sold some off the name, but in the end only reached about a quarter of the sales numbers of Halo 2 or 3. Why? Because they weren't what people wanted, no matter if it said Halo or not.
If you're a snob and looking down on Call Of Duty for no legitimate reason other than your own ego to feel superior, why comment in a thread to a trailer about the game you have no interest in simply because it's a different developer than the one mommy bought you?
Once Treyarch goes disloyal and unprofessional with secret counter-contracts done in secret, go ahead: attack. There's reason for disgust in their ethics.
But right now...why don't you snobs go make a Facebook page and just hang with each other? Let the ones into this game speculate and be excited.
If it says CoD on the box, it will sell until it's been whores out too much. Which, if the 3-games-in-12-months rumor is true, is hopefully pretty soon.
As for my take, I think I'll just give this a miss entirely. Never finished WaW and I only finished MW2 because I felt I had to. Not a fan of the multiplayer either. I think I just hate magically auto-healing FPS's in general because I'm loving me some Perfect Dark right now.
It looks like two soldiers are looking through a door to the outside.
That white spuldge in the middle looks like either a mushroom cloud or a mutant baby's face.
i'm not saying they re-invented the wheel. i said they make fun games. most of the treyarch shit talking is just baseless ranting.
... and let's be honest, most games out there today are "new paint on an old car" with a couple bells and whistles thrown in.
Why should I care if Treyarch created the game engine if the result is a great game? None. That's how much.
Yes, most likely I will be buying the game because I like the formula. At this point in my life, being able to play online for 15 minutes or 15 hours works for me. And it's fun, zombie-jesus help me it is fun. Relax, folks. It's a game.
