Free-to-play Lord of the Rings Online dated
Turbine's Lord of the Rings Online is going free-to-play this fall. More specifically, the free-to-play version of the game will launch for PC's in North America and Europe on September 10. Did you know? You can now get daily or weekly email notifications when humans reply to your comments.
Legacy Comments (will be imported soon)I'll be giving this a try once the semester starts. I played the demo a while back and found it to be okay, not worth paying for, but now that its free hells yeah! Loved my trial time but the server was barely populated. If people flood the free LOTRO the way they did DDO, I'm there.
Environments in this game are amazing. I'm on and off again for LoTR Online. It is fun, there is some grinding to get through, but for a soloist like me I enjoy it for the most part. The fact that its going free could be a blessing or curse depending on the quality of gamer that enlists This game is so much better than WoW. In fact, WoW, is probably the most overrated MMO of all time, by gamers and critics alike. Well you don't actually have to buy anything ever. From playing the beta I can say that if you complete enough feats you can buy the expansion and everything else in the game without paying a single penny/cent/your local lowest version of currency. So you don't actually have to pay a thing, it'll just take a bit of time earning enough feats to buy the expansion and other things (I got into the beta on curse.com and they still have a few keys left if you want in). I could see myself trying this out, but MMOs always get boring for me pretty quick. Free, though, so I'm only wasting time. And I have no limit on the amount of time in my life, right? I'd give it a shot for $0 the beta was alright just too much of a WoW knockoff to really invest time in LOTRO is a great MMO that is very underrated by the mass market. As long as you can get on a server that has a decent population for your level, it is definitely worth it, especially if it's free. 6:30 PM on 04.24.2013 Lord of the Rings Online expansion goes to Helm's DeepTurbine is continuing The Lord of the Rings Online with yet another expansion, and it's one that was bound to come up sooner or later: Helm's Deep.
