Free OnLive Game System with Red Faction pre-order photo

THQ and OnLive did it with Homefront, and now they're doing it again with Red Faction: Armageddon. By pre-ordering the game, you'll get a free OnLive Game System that's fully compatible with the streaming service. Additionally, they will help get your ass to mars by throwing in a copy of Red Faction: Guerrilla.

The landing page for this admittedly rather intriguing promotion can be found here. If you're worried about when Armageddon is going to unlock on OnLive, worry not: it's a day-and-date affair, with the specific time set at 12:10 EDT on June 7.

What did you think of the demo, by the way?

I was disappointed. They seem to be going the superhero route instead of just scaling up the destruction. I hope the full game changes my mind.

The demo sucked to be perfectly honest. I really hate how you're going to spend most of the time underground killing monsters. It was also extremely linear and cramped unlike Guerilla which was fairly wide open. I was hoping that this game would recapture the spirit of Guerilla, but it looks like THQ has another loser on its hands like it did with Homefront. I hope I'm wrong, but so far it doesn't look like it.

Onlive was a cool idea, but like kinect and ps move, I've heard little about it after all the hype diminished

Jordan, have you tinkered around with OnLive in the past by any chance? If so, what's it like? Also, if we pre-order Armageddon, are we pre-ordering the digital distrubtion copy through OnLive or an actual CD? I are confused.

I'm really getting addicted to OnLive. As for deals, every Friday, they have a game for $5 (previous ones were Batman AA and Mafia II). Over Easter weekend, they were throwing out 75% off codes left and right.

I did this deal with Homefront and love the service. I'm thinking about doing it again for this game and gifting/selling the extra console to a friend.

For those who are curious, signing up is FREE and you can play ANY game on there FREE for 30 minutes. The $10/mo playback plan is awesome too.

Ryan, what'll happen to the content of the games if OnLive ever goes out of business? Won't they just disappear, and your purchases will be worthless? Also, do you think, overall OnLive is cheaper than fucking with computers and the consoles this generation?

@Ryan
I'd love OnLive too if I worked for them.

@mratomix All your games are gone if the company goes under. Still I love the service. I can play FPS games anywhere I have internet access. Also the PlayPack is hella cheap. $5 Fridays. Just needs more games.
