I won't even get into what EA did to Moses and the Jews all those years ago but needless to say, they don't deserve your money.
They already have a revenue stream built into the multiplayer where you can pay money for the item packs, so it's in their best interest to keep people playing. I'm sure this was the plan all along.
Images of the characters were leaked around the first week of release, so it doesn't surprise me that it's free, otherwise people would throw a fit.
I like the way the unlocks in this game work. I'm glad they're not charging/automatically unlocking these new characters. As others have mentioned, their sales of the booster packs for real money will hopefully make up for this. I enjoy playing the game enough that I just buy the packs with the money I make.

Yeah, but it'd be nice if they let you purchase exactly what you want instead of giving you random shit. After all the Veteran and Spectre packs I've bought I've only gotten one or two items that I give a crap about. I don't even want any of the other characters. It's just a way to keep you spending until you get what you want. And it's a fucking bummer.

The Boosters packs ARE the game, it's not like getting them isn't a basic part of it.

Yes, unlocking content in this roundabout way is annoying. It's obvious why they did it, but that doesn't make it any less of a pain.
Mmmmmm Geth. Fuck yes. Downloading my copy of 3 right now. The mp in the demo was surprisingly enjoyable. Looking forward to the whole shabang.
Pretty awesome, though sorta weird Asari Adept wasn't already in there.. I mean, they're all freaking born with biotics.
I have a hell of a time connecting to matches, I've tried 5 times at different hours and only connected once. And when my squad mates saw I was a level 1 they all quit the match. Sucks because I enjoyed the demo and want to get that sweet XP to help my single player game.
Agreed that unlocking rare stuff is a pain.

There is already an Asari adept, but outside of Stasis it's kind of generic. This one seems more along the style of Samara and the badass powers she has.

I've disconnected from about 6 or 7 games, all at the very end of the last round. 20+ minutes down the drain every time. Fuck that, man. I'm done for a while.
And how many millions of credits will I need to spend to actually get one of the new weapons or characters?
Sweet, I didn't even know they could release this for free. I thought Microsoft had some sorta policy against that, or at least that's an excuse that was used in the past.

With their EA server stuff they can manage to host their own content without having to go through using MS servers. It happened with ME2 as well, they had 3 or 4 free DLCs.

This may be free. Which is nice. But it would not be if the game wasn't loaded with micro transactions.
As someone who's played way more multiplayer than singleplayer, I am eating this right up. I fucking love the multiplayer so much that every time I start up the game to play the singleplayer campaign, I instantly move the cursor from "Resume" to "Multiplayer."
It's that good.
I love the Mass Effect 3 multiplayer and I sincerely hope this is not the last of it. Hell, everyone in the Mass Effect universe could be dead for all I care, multiplayer doesn't need a story to be great.

I'd like to play as Kai Leng, or if not the guy himself, then the Cerberus Phantom class he's a part of.

Yes, because they have 0 reason for that. 1) you can't really "refund" a digital sale as far as I know unless you physically remove data. 2) people would abuse the hell out of it when they didn't get what they wanted out of a random pack. 3) it's random, why are you paying actual money for a random chance at something digital? at least with trading cards they have collectible value and can be exchanged between people.

@Konnery: Spent points on an equipment pack using MS Points, got a Veteran pack instead. If you've played the multiplayer, you'd know that you get very specific items from Equipment packs, vs any of the other ones.

From what I understand, they can send out packs to players via their origin/EA accounts, if they see there was an error on their part. I would of been happy with that, or at least an acknowledgement that it was a problem for me and multiple users. Pissed me off more than the whole ending controversy...

Also would like a fix so that I could stop getting hate mail, every time my Vanguard flies off into the sky mid-game... That and actually receiving my commendation pack for promoting 4 of my favorite characters for last weekend's event...
@KeroseneDreamer: Different armor, different powers. I'm guessing Reave/Stasis/Throw. If so, she'd be top of the top tier.
This is nice and all but all I want is for them to fix the face import glitch. Anyone know when that might happen?
Badassfully: I like the unlock system. It makes everyone unique. If it was cod style sequential unlocking everyone would have the same things at the same time at matching ranks. This would lead to many of players using the best set up for their current class, resulting in less uniqueness across the board. Also it adds depth. I don't plan on spending real money so putting in "work" has a real payoff when you finally get something. I'm in no hurry to max out though. If you enjoy it less you probably want more sooner, or at least the option to choose what it is your getting, which i can understand. Alas... it's all relative.
I've bought one booster pack for it, but I got the points from Microsoft's Reward program, so I saw no problem with it. I really like how it plays out, but I think it would have been better if the matches were longer and there were more objectives to do.

My main issue is while you should be "thinning the herd" the more weapons you get unlocked to level 10...you actually don't. You just start to gather more and more (fairly useless) character cards even if you have no intention of promotion, because in the scope of things promotion is almost pointless.
I feel like you shouldn't get the character cards anymore once you get all the aesthetic unlocks if that class stays at level 20. I'd prefer to actually have a chance at finding an Asari more than once because while I enjoy the others, the Asari Adept is the only one I want to play 99% of the time. I just kind of default to the others because I can make them look less generic.
