Free Dropkick Murphys tracks available for Guitar Hero III

     DLC

In honor of St. Patrick's Day (and regularly getting shown up by Rock Band) Activision has released a free track pack of three Dropkick Murphys songs. The pack consists of master tracks of "Famous for Nothing", "Johnny, I Hardly Knew Ya", "Flannigan's Ball", and disappointment that you can't sing or drum along with the aforementioned tunes.

While new (and especially free) DLC for Guitar Hero III is usually welcomed with open arms by those not fortunate (or spendy) enough to own Rock Band, I have to echo the sentiments of one of my inimitable co-editors in saying this really is too little too late. Each announcement of new Guitar Hero III content, rather than filling me with glee at having new songs to play, makes me that much more apathetic toward the franchise, and pushes me closer to finally ponying up the dough for a more well-rounded music game experience.

 [Thanks, Jpitner]

My birthday is on St. Patrick's Day. I have probably one of the best ones possible. You can all suck it. If any of you have never listened to Dropkick Murphy's or Flogging Molly, they are the pinnacle of drinking songs.

Free? Dude, Activision has Journey AND free content. If only I didn't like Rock Band way much more than Guitar Hero III, I'd call a winner here!

The thing here is more that any good song that comes out on guitar hero (see: no doubt) would be 10x better in rock band for the singing parts alone. Winnar HMX

now if they ever do "sick of it all" or "agnostic front" or anything NYHC, i'll buy the game. it is decent band though, their just now getting big after 20yrs but that's the underground scene "fuck selling out" #1_in_the_hood_G!!

It will take far to much time and effort to download these songs that I will play maybe once. I'd rather save that time to not play Guitar Hero III and their shitty free songs and play some more Rock Band and their awesome songs that I have to pay for but kick so much more ass than this or shit like No Doubt.

I hate you Neversoft.

I listened to all the songs that are in the pack. They sound pretty fun, worth checking out I guess... especially if they're free. Then again, any reason to pull me away from... that smashing game... is fine by me.

I just downloaded and tried them, and they're pretty darn good.

At least on medium... I'm a little out of practice for hard. :(

I do agree about Rock Band vs. GHII though. I'm pretty tempted to get Rock Band and get rid of GHIII. Once you get into hard it stops being fun without a shit-ton of constant practice. I'd definitely keep Guitar Hero II though, because that's just pure... amazing.

A question though... shouldn't the Rock Band peripherals be priced so that you can at least get the drums, mic and game for the same price as the kit. Some of us don't need another guitar. :p

Dropkick Murphys is some perfect St. Patty's Day music and free is awesome! Not awesome enough for me to pick up GH III, but awesome.

Anyways I completley agree with Qais. Guitar Hero isnt terrible, but after Rock Band I dont even enjoy playing it anymore.

Who wants to bet when Yanks hear Johnny, I Hardly Knew Ye, they'll start complaining about how they stole an American tune?
