Some of you may remember, many moons ago, that 2K asked the fans what they wanted out of a BioShock collector's edition. The contents of the special box set that we can look forward to at the end of the month was voted on by we humble gamers, but one thing that didn't make the cut was an artbook. Fans of drawings need not fret though, for an online version has kindly and lovingly been made available to download now from the BioShock website, and can be nabbed for nada right here. Provided as zipped PDF files in both hi-res and low-res versions, BioShock: Breaking The Mold is an excellent freebie that should be snapped up by anyone excited for the game (and that's a lot of you). Check out some of the ghastly imagery on display and the artistic evolution of one of the most eagerly awaited games of the year. This comes highly recommended -- just don't read the foreword if you're scared of spoilers. [Thanks Action Bastard!]

Excellent! I love the artistic process that goes into videogames, the art is the only reason I buy the Piggyback Final Fantasy strategy guides!
I wasn't particularly impressed by the demo but this is a really nice freebie.
Thanks 2k!!
This is tasty treasures in my mouth.
My collecters edition shall be pre-orderd saturday when I get paid.
Does anyone know if the collectors edition comes in a tin? The metal case is what I expect from a collectors edition.
there are spoilers in it, beware.
I love looking at the evolution of the ideas to games. Awesome, especially for an aspiring game developer like myself.
OMG, there's a concept with a big daddie in a wheelchair haha. And it's got a fucking chaingun mounted on it.
This makes me sad panda.
I wish the game was in its originally planned setting, the WW2 Research facility.
=\
We totally need more games set during WWII, yeah!
Well, not WW2 SHOOTERS per se, cause I swear to god if I see another Band of Honorus (is honorus a word?) Brothers Victor Call of Valor FPS game, im going to rape someones face.
But a bioshock set in an abandonded WW2 research facility with tons of mutated freaks running around?
DO WANT.
Im just not big on the art deco thing Bioshock is doing.
I miss my Shodan =[
I agree with Jim. It's not like games set during WWII have been overdone by now.
Well, the artdeco thing does it for me. I absolutely adore the whole idea of an underwater "perfect" society gone horribly wrong, and utopia-turned-nightmare. Much more engaging and seductive to me than "WWII research facility" which just screams of old hat.
Awesome. I wish I had this much excitement for more games as I do this one. They've been rolling out lots of great stuff to keep people continually excited.
yeah, one of the only reasons i'm into this game is the setting - the art deco, the society gone wrong, the ambiance. set it ANYWHERE else and it would have been a tough sell for me.
I love the retro art deco feel. Eerie Nostalgia. Nice to see something original. I cant wait to get a shotgun with plasmid shells. Cheers
Bioshock only needs one of the destructoid bots to duel it out with Big Daddy
YES. Some more Bioshock goodness to satiate my lust for the game before it comes out. This week can't go by fast enough.
Reading some pages of this had me semi-shocked. I wish I hadn't actually, until after the game. I honestly didn't expect any other enemies other than splicers, turrets and Big Daddies. 10 more days before we get it here in Sweden :<
I think alot of the designs are just early idea's to be honest, as even the more "final" stuff of things we've already seen look more like prototypes with slight differences to whats been shown from the game.
That was awesome. I always love seeing how the art has involved in games. I love the office-chair-made-into-machine-gun.
