Free DLC and patches for BioShock out next week photo

BioShock will be getting some patches to fix some of the bugs for both Xbox 360 and PC versions of the game. The patch will also address that whole widescreen "issue" people were making a big stink over too. Not only that, but some free downloadable content will be coming out next week as well. There will be new plasmids and a way to disable Vita-Chambers among the DLC. A full list of all the patches will be listed on the Cult of Rapture Web site once the DLC is ready to go.

Jim already asked you all this when the DLC was first announced back in October, but I'll go ahead and ask it again: Will you want to replay the game just because of the new Plasmids and the other small things they're giving away?

It wont get me back into it because Bioshock, to me, can only be played once. I say this because of the story, story was the main thing that got me through that game.

I need to start sending in tips or some shit. I had this on my blog last night. But that's a fuckin great picture, so I guess I'm beat.

I'm definitely going to play it again as I was due for another run-through anyway. Hopefully these additions will add something to the experience, but it won't bother me if they don't.

It's a hell of a game.. But as soon as I beat it I turned off the 360 and haven't touched it since. My friend borrowed it and has had it for a couple of months now or else I would have traded it in by now.. Nw plasmids will be cool, but whatever..

I haven't yet played through the game the first time... would it be better to play with the additional plasmids or no?

That picture made me laugh out loud. If the DLC is good, then maybe it will warrant another play through for me.

I never finished it, it got boring due to the easy difficulty. That said, I may try it again without the VitaChambers when this hits. Maybe the challenge of trying to survive will make it more interesting again.

I already sent the damn game off to Goozex, and now I will have to rent it... could this include that mysterious 51st achievement that has been showing up on mygamercard?

I just got it last week. I beat the first level last Wednesday because I don't really have that much time for gaming. I came home Thursday, set on playing it all night, and my roomie's 360 red-ringed. On top of that, my home internet's been out for just as long, so I haven't even had the chance to gripe about it proper.

I'm sorry, what was the question?

I think that you focus on the wrong issue in this post. Instead of cynically asking if this game is good enough for a second go 'round, maybe you should applaud the developers/publisher for releasing this content without the usual Assraping Surcharge associated with downloads like these.

Just a thought. I personally won't be playing it any time soon, since my Elite's disc drive is screwed.

CountingConflict: I'm a cynical bastard at heart and hate everyone and everything. Plus from the sounds of it, they had to have given this away for free. They'd be crazy to charge for a couple of new items and things.

I liked the game, but i didnt feel it was my kind of game, it didnt blew my mind off. I respect it deeply, but somehow i think it is overrated a bit... just a bit.

Anyway, maybe i will play it again in a few months if i get bored. I bought it over steam for the PC.

Yeah I'm not gonna go back and play it again. While it was my GOTY, I still got games I'm still behind on playing.

I've been meaning to go back into this game, and the widescreen definitely bothered me. Yeah, I'm going back to Rapture.

as it hurts me to say, i stopped my second playthrough of bioshock because it all felt too familiar and thus the feeling was kinda lost. me and a friend who absolutely loved the experience don't feel the urge to go back down there. its such a commitment i guess to go down to rapture and that world, its so depressing and immersing that it takes a special mind to revisit that place.

part of bioshocks charm was in that it was something so totally unique. so when that becomes a commodity that charm is pretty much gone. don't get me wrong, i think its one of the greatest experiences ever created, and i will go down there to try these new things out and see if all i said here turn out to be pure lies.

I never played my copy, because I got a 360 months after it came out and I was busy. So I guess I'll get to play through it with all the new stuff. :D

Multiplayer a la System Shock 2 through the main story I would pay for. Though I never got it to work on Sysshock2.

Another play through, sure why not? Like Deus Ex, Bioshock is something I could play over and over again, even though I know the story. I hope the add-ons are free.

@Hamza CTZ Aziz

I understand that this content should be released for free, but every other publisher demands your five dollars for a new track, horse armor, lumines skin, or vintage jersey. It seems (to me anyway) that they are making an effort to at least level with the gamer. I certainly hope it is a trend that other publishers are willing to follow.

I can be a bit of an achievement whore with games I really love. Having played through the story twice and needing only 4 more achievements to "complete the game", new plasmids may just be what I need to pick it back up. Unless they're stupid like "Enrage". I almost never used that one.

I have had a copy of Bioshock sitting on my desk right next to my PC staring me in the face since release that I never got to play past the opening sequence because of RAM issues. Hopefully these updates will get me motivated to play again, once I get new RAM, with several other games including SMG waiting to be finished.

Bioshock isn't perfect but it is one of the best games to come out this year. I place it right behind The Orange Box in terms of enjoyment I've had in games this year. Only real problems with Bioshock are the VitaChambers easing gameplay and some of the objectives for missions seem boring.
