Free App of the Weekend: Puzzle Quest photo

Hello? Is thing on? Jim usually delivers the Free App of the Day, but he's not around so I'll try not to break this post while I'm using it. Man, it's a little hard to steer.

I won't lie. Most of the time when I read Jim's posts on these I never actually download the game because I'm lazy and already have enough things to play. This time will be no different, except for the fact that the reason I'm not downloading it is because I already bought Puzzle Quest and it's awesome.

If you haven't allowed yourself the pleasure of playing Puzzle Quest you have absolutely no excuse now because it's free right here thanks to FreeAppADay.com. While the iPhone version might not be the best version of the game it does come with content from the expansion pack and it's still a bunch of fun. Most importantly it is free for the weekend. As in you don't have to pay for it. Free. Free. Free. Free. Free. Free. Free. Free. Free. Free. Free. Free. Free. Free. Free. Free. Free. Free. Free. Free. Free. Free. Free. Free. Free. Free. Free. Free. Free. Free. Free. Free. Free. Free. Free. Free. Free. Free. Free. Free. Free. Free. Free. Free. Free. Free. Free. Free. Free. Free. Free. Free. Free. Free. Free. Free. Free. Free. Free. Free. Free. Free. Free. Free.

Crap. Sorry, Jim. I broke it.

[Thanks, bloosoda]

For free, this is a pretty great deal.

I've bought and played this game on both DS and Xbox Live Arcade.

I fucking HATE the "cheaty" AI sometimes.

But damn, this is a must-get.

I have been playing this for 3 hours straight. It's somehow just as addictive as the XBLA version. Best free app in a while

If you've jailbroken your iPhone/Touch, look up some of the user-generated content. It works on this portable version. :O!

Ho-shit! Downloading right now. I have no idea how many hours I've wasted with this game on PC and 360, but I know I'll be wasting a bunch more with my iPod!

SWEET! Time to get it again. Glad they have the expansion stuff, I was denied that the first time.

"Chapters 1 and 2 included"

What does that mean? I beat the game on PSP and I wasn't aware of any chapter stuff. Is that free DLC?

@Bolduk:

Chapter 1 is the original game. Chapter 2 is the Revenge of the Plague Lord expansion. Chapter 3 (in-app purchase) is iPhone exclusive and apparently is the end of the game.

Downloaded it instantly 'cause PQ is in my top 3 DS games ever; played it last summer, I must have spent 200 hours flicking gems and empowering my character. I always dreamt of having it on my iPhone too, my 15 min tube trip to work every morning is perfectly fit for a couple of quick skirmishes - I'm planning to play it every now and then waiting for PQ2 for DS.
I started a new game playing as a druid (yay, hardcore!), already noticed some annoying bugs and glitches; no gamebreakers they are, but still... it is free, isn't it?
Let me spend a couple more minutes praising PQ; I personally feel everyone should try it, especially RPG fans who are drawn back by the match-3 mechanics. The battles do feel like a true RPG turn-based battle, with the right balance between skill and luck. And I absolutely love the game world: nothing original or not seen before, but charming in both visuals, story and characters. It is a game I actually wanted to progress on because I cared for the tale told.
OK, time's up. Play it!
