You have to love FOX News. It's turned the word "agenda" into something sinister, without ever having to quantify whatever the agenda in question actually is. Next up on FOX's agenda is yet another round of videogame bashing, but this time there's a twist!
Apparently, videogames are tools of the "green police" and they're promoting a "liberal agenda" with environmentally conscious messages. Games like Sim City and Flower came under fire from Clayton Morris and online radio host TJ McCormack, who accused them of using scare tactics and guilt to promote a political cause. Yes, we all see the irony with that statement.
"These guys have kids with sweaty palms, and freaking out that they're not going to kill a bunch of virtual polar bears ... virtual polar bears!" said McCormack, making no sense whatsoever. "... It's also boring. It's also boring! These are not games, there's a game that teaches kids how to do a tad sale! Recyclables!"
Some gamers are angry at McCormack for his comments, but I don't know how anybody could read the above quote and be furious. I think it's hilarious! FOX ran a story criticizing games for trying to educate children instead of promoting violence and murder, and they brought on a man who screamed about virtual polar bears. For once, I think FOX News should be congratulated on its fine comedy.

I will say say that I never liked how Nuclear energy in Sim City is treated like it's a pretty dirty and unsafe form of energy. The actual technology behind nuclear plants and energy has, like most technology over time jumped forward.
But yeah, it's typical Fox News ranting and raving about bullshit for the views. And some kind of radio host? As usual, making themselves look like clowns.
I guess if we play Mass Effect and Grand Theft Auto, gamers become sexaholic psychos, and now if we play flower we get mind fucked by the "green police"? Make your mind up FOX
LOL! Holy shit thank you Jim, I needed a good laugh this morning. Certainly, Fox can always be relied upon to be hilarious and offensive at the same time. Also, Sim City uses scare tactics and guilt to promote a political cause? It's been awhile since I've played any of the Sim City games but I definitely don't remember that. This guy's a fucking windowlicker.
Next on Fox News: "Classic arcade game, Paperboy, encourages children to get a job, sacrificing their youth." It features one expert who repeatedly yells, "Would somebody please think of the virtual polar bears!"
What sort of kids are playing Fate of the World? It's bloody hard and terribly complex, even I was baffled by it. I might not agree with the research, but it doesn't have some horrible agenda. It's a tough game which is also educational and certainly not for kids.
I usually enjoy Jim's write ups, yet I can't help but find it funny how Jim Sterling - master of sensationalized game coverage - loves to call out Fox for sensationalizing news stories...
So they kept showing Flower but never actually mentioned Flower and instead only talked about a Facebook game and what is probably just a Flash game from PETA (McDonald's the game).
@Sofik- Part of fox's own agenda is to discredit Al Gore and environmentalism so that the EPA is disbanded and corporations (like the ones who advertise on fox news) are free to pollute without having to deal with environmental regulators. The funny part about it is how hard they look for stuff to discredit. Not only this, but a couple weeks back they went after Spongebob Squarepants.
@Fullmetalfox- Fuck you! These assholes will never represent America
Words cannot express how much I'm laughing at that right now, its the biggest load of bollocks ever, "GAMERS ARE KILLERS CUSS GAMES!", now its "GAMERS ARE RESPECTING THE ENVIRONMENT CUSS GAMES!", what's next? "GAMERS ARE HELPING OLD LADY'S ACROSS THE STREET CUSS GAMES!"
Also, polar bears.
FOX news criticizing something for scaremongering! O_O
And what does Flower really have to do with that story? Maybe it's all just part of FOX's campaign to turn the word liberal into a synonym for terrorist.
FOX News is the target but it is a radio personality? Way to blur the distinction. Do you know the differences between an op. ed. Piece and news stories?
Destructoid is an open discussion community. You don't need to "audition" to post a comment - just speak your mind. We respect differing opinions on the site, so have at it. Be smart, funny, insightful, clueless, or cute -- but back it up with substance. Keep your cool, keep it fun. We only ask that you act respectfully and above all: don't be a troll and ruin it for everyone else. Don't bring down gamers or we'll, you know, gently shoot you in the face and stuff you into a flaming mailbox. Each comment is your opportuntity to make this community awesomer. Is that even a word?
Avoiding the banhammer only requires common sense: spamming, trolling, racism, NSFW stuff, and other forms of sucking will not be tolerated. If anyone is griefing please report abuse. Be good. Don't suck!

...
how the fuck would that be a bad thing?!

...and I'd be able to sleep on ANY single flight without some whiny kid screaming his head off.
Also, POLAR BEARS!

Except I'm not pissed off. I want FOX to do MORE of this, because it's funny.
Also, polar bears.

Pinko liberals FTW.
As for the gentleman above, I'm assuming he's related to a polar bear? Is there a game where you can kill a polar bear?
