When I saw the new installment in the PixelJunk series last month, it was as yet unnamed. Opting to hold a contest among gamers to name the new game, the team received over 10,000 suggestions and their servers buckled underneath the load of rabid fans out to see the new trailer.
Today, over at PlayStation Blog, Q-Games' Dylan Cuthbert revealed the winning name: PixelJunk Shooter. It makes sense, since it's a simple name and, yes, you shoot things but I can't help feeling a little disappointed. I suppose I was hoping for a title that was a little more esoteric, something more like Eden. Still it's a fair enough name and I dig the look of the logo.
Names which almost made the cut include PixelJunk Depths, PixelJunk Atlantis, PixelJunk Caves and PixelJunk Blaster. What do you guys think of the title? Would you have preferred one of these other options?

Im not that i care, but, its hash to think that i lost for a so simple name...
A dog could think a betther name then Shooter XD
Not This:
and pixeljunk:spelunke
or pixeljunk:pit
shooter is to generic and dumb.
Doesn't really fit with their naming method so far, though. I mean, does PixelJunk: Eden really spell out what you do there? Shouldn't that have been called Swing or something similar?
Anyway, hopefully the game is at least fun to play, regardless of the fairly blah name.
Oh well, I'm sure it will be fun. But I'm a bit let down.
The whole point of having a naming contest is to come up with something DIFFERENT and original to name the game. "Eden" is a perfect example of this type of name. "Odyssey" is my favorite of the ones I've heard.
I hope no one won anything for suggesting "shooter."
Might as well just be "PixelJunk: Game."
I didn't like this new name either. There were better options.
