Fourteen days free World Of Warcraft with new South Park box set photo

In an unexpected bit of cross-marketing, the South Park season ten box set will ship with a free 14-day trial of MMO goliath World Of Warcraft.

All said, it's a very clever move on the part of Blizzard. Said run of the cartoon includes the now legendary, Emmy-nominated WoW-themed episode Make Love, Not Warcraft, which is heavily made up of WoW machinima, making it an extended game trailer as much as it is a fine piece of TV comedy. The same season also features last November's Go God Go, in which Cartman attempts to bypass the wait for the Wii launch by cryogenically freezing himself, making this particular set of DVDs a very gamer-friendly one indeed.

Add all of that to the fact that the show's non-gaming fans have probably had their interest piqued and may well be dangerously disbelieving of the heroin-like properties of the "innocent" free account they're setting up, and Blizzard have potentially got a whole army of new acolytes on the way when the set is released later this month.

Cynical? Quite possibly so. Effective? Almost certainly.

This is the greatest cross advertising ever, nothing makes me want to play MMORPGs more than thinking about even more morbidly obese Cartman.

Makes sense considering WoW players and South Park viewers are the exact same demographic.

Oh. Wait.

Impressive, as usual.

When the new expansion comes out, they'll probably add a tiny satchel with heroin with every game card.

Isn't a 2 week trial of WoW the new "1 month free of AOL"? You can get this anywhere. Slick cross promotion though I have to say.
