I'm with Eggman on this. Borderlands wasn't good because of any narrative ambitions. In fact, my friend and I have beaten the game 5 times and still can't make odds or ends of the plot.
Bunch of fucking sour pusses. Since when are comics all that fucking deep either? Christ. Hope its a fun read with pretty pictures. Wouldn't ask for more.
woah to all of you, I've read comics way deeper than a lot of novels I've read, also, just because borderlands didnt have a good story doesnt mean that it doesnt have interesting characters that could be expanded on. (also it's IDW, I dont have that much hope for it, they pretty much put all of their money into licenses and cover art.)

Sure the plot was flakey, but the world and such were far more interesting than the generic bullshit western fantasy stuff you get from Skyrim and other RPGs. Plus the great sense of humor.

Comics can be extremely well-written and deep. Try Sandman or Preacher or Transmetropolitan. But yeah, I'd be happy with some fun backstory and shit blowing up. Oh, and some Lilith and Moxie fan-service, please <3

I mean, I understand the desire to pan an IP out into other media and get that sweet, stinky cash. But I really hate it when a given story is spread across a game, then a comic, then a youtube video, andonandonandon.
Why not put all that intrigue and lore into the game, right? To this day, I still haven't read the Portal comic, so I have no idea what the deal is with Rattman or whatever the hell.

The weird thing about Borderlands was that just beneath the surface, there was an interesting story surrounding Pandora's colonization and lead up to the current events. Ok maybe not "video game-interesting" but from an environmental and social perspective, the planet underwent a huge change and it's something I wanted to learn more about. There's the whole feud between arms dealers, the colonization/exploitation/abandonment of Pandora, the climate shift that resulted in a loss of biodiversity/extinction of massive beasts (evident by the giant fossils littering the landscape) & the drying of the rivers and lakes, the history of humans and Eridians, the science behind elemental minerals and wildlife, and yeah...I guess the backstories of the characters as well haha!! The more Patricia Tannis we get, the better our world becomes.
I actually bought the Borderlands novel, The Fallen, but I still haven't finished reading it yet. There's something about this game's world that I just really, really like.

It's funny that I saw this, because I just finally got back into Borderlands. I couldn't play many hours as the Soldier and the Berserker due to the fact that they felt too awkward. I started playing as the Siren and I'm loving it!
And like CelicaCrazed said, there's a really neat backstory surrounding Pandora, and I'd love to read more about it!

Guys I know that shit. I have a huge stack(s) of stories I fucking cherish. I wasn't clear and I apologize. I should have said, comics like this. It's a fun little tie in, like the Rage comic. It ain't gonna be all deep and profound, but hey I could be wrong, either way, my bad. You bastards should know I ain't like that anyway.

Hope to get my grips on that Retailer Incentive cover. I find if facepalm inducing anytime I read some troglodyte's comment about how they couldn't "make odds or ends" of plot in Borderlands. That's not something I would advertise. The story was very serviceable if one chose to read and/or listen to the spoken dialogue. The ending was a bit abrupt/disappointing but the DLCs made up for that. My opinion of course.
Also, Hellblazer is the Bee's Knees! I've been reading since issue #1 (yes, I'm old) and I'm digging that they are finally putting out chronological trades. It's a about damn time. I don't read any DC tripe, but I do enjoy the hell out of their Vertigo imprint.

Story in this is being written by Anthony Burch. And all trailers point to it being pretty good. But ya'll can keep bitching like babies in your ignorant piss-puddle. I know it makes you happy.
Haven't read a DC or Marvel superhero book in years, but I'm a sucker for TV and Game tie-ins (and The Boys by Garth Ennis). BSG and Mass Effect had some pretty good issues so I'll probably pick this up on the Nexus.
