Quantcast

Foto Showdown is an interesting concept if nothing else, and seems to actually be using the DSi's cameras in a good way. We've heard very little about the game though, but Konami has now revealed two knew walkthroughs that tell us exactly how it works. Basically it's the concept of Pokemon (collecting monsters) with the concept of Pokemon Snap! (taking pictures).

The top video explains how the pictures collect the creatures and how you can get more and more powerful ones. The video below explains the battle system, which doesn't seem anymore interesting than your standard battle system. All in all this seems like a cool idea backed up by a game that could keep you interested. Might be a nice addition for Nintendo to steal for the next Pokemon games.

I noticed this game when constructing my 'list of games I can't afford' and realized I want it. I don't care what it is, I just want to finally own a game that justifies my DSi purchase, at least in physical cart form.

Now...I need more money.

Stupid March with all these damn games.

This seems like a really cool idea, and a DSi game that finally makes the DSi seem like any kind of purchase decision over a normal DS.

Though it seems kind of shallow going by these videos. I almost wish it ripped off the Monster Rancher idea a little more. The rearing and exploring were some of my favorite parts of those games.

All I want to know is what kind of monster I get for taking a picture of my junk.

Not to be a dick, but is this like that PSP thing "Invisimals"? Sounds similar in terms of concept to me, but then I have neither, so I wouldn't know; perhaps it has a different target audience to that PSP game.

But how exactly does the game decide what monster you get after taking the picture? Seems like it would just be random.

@Gamechamp

Supposedly it's based on the dominant primary color in the photo or something like that.

The voice acting could be a tad more enthusiastic, or something.

As long as it doesn't remind me of that one game where the guy let his children voice act...and they were awful.

@ Caspulex: I disagree. The voice-acting could have been a lot worse and more annoying. Although she hasn't the best voice in the world, she is a lot easier on the ears, imo.

Seems like Monster Rancher with a camera and pictures instead of discs.
