Everybody knows that the Xbox 360 is less powerful than even the Wii, which is why Final Fantasy XIII will be shipping on eight thousand DVDs. Despite this obvious fact, Forza 3 director Dan Greenawalt believes that there is still plenty of life in the console yet.
"Have we maxed out the 360? Of course not," he explains. "It's a really powerful system.
"When it comes to hardware you always use 100%. Even to make a little arcade game, you'd use 100% of the hardware. But when you're first party, and when you've got a really clever development staff that's world class, hired from all over the industry, then you learn tricks. It's like Tetris.
"With Forza 2 we were the first game on the 360, at least that I know of, that could do 60 frames per second. And we did a lot of things wrong when we built our model. We did some things right, but just like a jigsaw puzzle, the first time you build it, it takes an hour, and the second time you build it, it takes half an hour. Eventually it just takes 15 minutes, because you learn how to build it faster."
I wish game development was exactly like Tetris. Then I might be able to make a game that isn't just a drawing in MS Paint with the word "Videogame" written on it.
Why so biased, Jim? You're very obviously being literally 100% literally literal here, and you NEVER ever NOT ONCE in history EVER said anything bad about Sony, who rapes children. Pull your head out of Kaz Hirai's ass, sheeple!
You only say that coz you're biased.
I can say with confidence that Remote Masseuse does not use 100% of the hardware.
Shhh... It's funnier to watch their heads explode.
I laugh every time I see a 360 gathering dust, underneath the MEGA-Juggernaut Ps3! The 360 is dead and Madden proved it!
WTF is FORZA anyhow? Being First on a system means zilch if you cannot max it out the first time around!
It seems to be like this every year. One man's MAX is another man's 50%. It's a goddamn cycle that I'm sure most average consumers could care less about, or can tell the difference.
No shit, Forza looks hawt. But I still prefer my PS3, GT5 for the win.
I think it fully maxed out the controller

"Since we ran our Tale of 11 Broken 360s a week ago, there have been a few new developments. This weekend, posts appeared alleging someone at Microsoft was deleting threads on the official Forza 2 forums. The offending thread was reportedly full of gamers claiming Forza Motorsport 2 was causing major problems with Xbox 360s."
go ahead and use full power, we all know whats going to happen next.
And everybody with a brain knows it's PR bull and they'll "max it out" again within the next month.
But in any situation it comes down to the logic in the code and how sharp and well organized your code team is to tightly pack that code neatly into the game as much as possible.
Think of it like a map...or better yet a tent. When you get the tent from the manufacturer its nicely packages, tightly pressed into a nylon bag, and has everything placed 'just so'. You use that tent once, and if you do not think about how that tent came OUT of the bag the first time, then you're going to mash that fucker back into the nylon bag as hard as possible, and nothing is going to fit properly, nothing is going to be as efficient or even FIT the same way. This is what he means by the 'Tetris' reference. Fit it together in an efficient way so that when it comes down to it you don't have those annoying little S pattern shapes SCREWING UP your change at a Tetris.
Nitex I dunno about the system being obsolete. I'd say it's got a number of years left in it to remain relevant in terms of graphic representation. If you're contrasting it to the PS3's ability to relevant...well in that case the PS3's code base is much more tricky to squeeze performance from because of this supposed 'better architecture'. Maybe it is, maybe it isn't. What has to be taken into consideration is the fact that Sony's beast can be a bit more to chew and digest in terms of coding than the 360.
Either way if you want to argue about graphics, just go buy a PC and the latest graphics card and get into that heated debate.
Really... the system is fine. The main issue I can see(apart from hard drive space) is the amount of RAM these consoles have. If they would just let us upgrade the ram and graphics cards, the systems would benefit so much more.
Your dad didn't complain.. but then I use Extednz for those long hot sweaty man on man sessions. I totally maxxed out your dad
That "2-year-old demo" you're referring to came out in late 2008, and cost $40. Also, based on the Forza 3 demo I played, gameplay looks better than that "bullshot" (though that specific car clearly wasn't in it.) The loading screen images in Forza 3? Those are bullshots. But your impression of the game's aesthetics seems to be off.
Also Jim? Priceless. Moar.
cuz u know ps3 has games that CANT be made on X360 like Uncharted 2/MGS4 cuz og blue ray
