Forza 3 to have launch day DLC photo

Think twice before buying Forza Motorsport 3 used. Earlier this morning, Microsoft announced that the upcoming racing title will have packaged-in DLC.

Dubbed the “Motorsports Legends Car Pack,” the launch day DLC consists of ten additional cars and two downloadable tracks. The vehicles, listed below, have been “hand picked” by developer Turn 10 for maximum vehicular awesomeness. The tracks, though, appear to be merely created for maximum DLC-ness.
  • ’65 Alfa Romeo Giulia Sprint GTA
  • ’64 Aston Martin DB5 Vantage
  • ’81 BMW M1
  • ’60 Chevrolet Corvette
  • ’69 Dodge Charger
  • ’57 Ferrari 250 Testa Rossa
  • ’80 Fiat 131 Abarth
  • ’67 Lamborghini Miura P400
  • ’71 Nissan Skyline 2000 GT-R
  • ’65 Shelby Cobra Daytona Coupe
Forza 3 hits retail on October 27th, while the DLC will make it to Xbox LIVE Marketplace day and date. No word on what the pack will cost consumers who neglect buy the game fresh, but we’ll find out soon enough.

Another shot fired across the bow of used console game sales...

The '65 Cobra Daytona is one sweet ride... I think it still holds the record for a single car price sold at auction...10.5 million USD. Only 6 where built and one of them is still unaccounted for.

It's not punishment for used copies, but for LIVE unsuported countries. In unsuported countries are games without DLC codes...this policy sux

What garbage. GT% will have more cars than that. Forza is a joke series. It is for casuals and those who know nothing about cars. GT5 is where the real driving is at.

Its a free download (most likely on the disc) as long as you purchase the game new. used copies don't contain codes. It sucks because you have to be an XBox Live member to publish the code.

Not enough space on the dvd so M$ pulls off this DLC bullshit. More proof Blu-Ray is essential and GT5 is the ONLY Real Driving Simulator.

Hey Patriot, stop being an asshole. kthx bai.

cut the fanboy crap out, or go back to /v/. Anyone who uses the word casual in an arguement automatically loses, because all they can do is follow the other sheep that can't make a cohering thought on their own.

So drop the attitude, and the waahhhwaahhhh baby bullshit, its not clever. Nor does it make you look awesome.

@Patriot Snake, are you being sarcastic with respect to "Not enough space on the dvd so M$ pulls off this DLC bullshit." How much could the skins and files for these cars take? 1 MB?

Enjoy your 2x read speed, requiring many games to force installations.

Bluray is in no way necessary for modern games. What's the point of having bazillions of data if you can't read it quickly enough to be useful?

Cry more. I'm a sony fan and i'll call out shit if i see it.
@JonB
If this was PSXExtreme, you'd be call out as the fanboi or the xbots that you are.
@Tascar
Then why don't M$ just put it on the disc? Huh? Answer me that? They just want to screw over ppl who don't want to pay $50 for their overpriced service.

This isn't PSXExtreme, this is Destructoid. We love all video games here and we HATE fanbois. Either drop the shit or feel free to go back to PSXExtreme, where I'm sure they love people like you.

Real racing fans will probably buy both GT5 and Forza 3 anyways, so your whining is useless.

@ patriot snake: Gran Turismo has more cars because more of them are duplicates. Forza has less cars, but each one is unique, and with the higher degree of tuning, two identical cars can feel completely different if the tuning set-up is changed.

I will admit that I am more of a forza fan, because of that harder tuning aspect: after playing with that, all of the cars in gran turismo sort of feel the same, but each car I have in forza, having had screwed around under the hood, is uniquely mine, and that is why I prefer forza at this day and age.

Its ultimately a matter of taste. if you'd rather have GT, nobody's stopping you. if I wanted to deride your choice of game, I'd probably make some comment about $40 beta tests.... ultimately, though, just enjoy your own damn toy and stop bitching at people who are just trying to enjoy theirs.

@Patriot Snake, I'm willing to bet that the data is indeed probably on the disc and that the DLC is simply an unlock code. That being said, I don't understand what you mean by "They just want to screw over ppl who don't want to pay $50 for their overpriced service." My understanding is that the DLC is free DLC for those that purchased the game new from stores and that this is simply an attempt to dissuade people from getting this game used from Gamestop or eBay or whatever. I am not sure what exactly you are getting at because this DLC as well as the ability to access it has nothing to do with whether you subscribe to XBox Live, which I assume you are insinuating.

Heh...if this is free that'd be awesome. Another 10 cars to go with the 10 i'm getting in the CE.

I just hope they release Bathurst/Mt. Panorama circut as DLC eventually, to go with the V8 Supercars. Would love to race it..

Bathurst/Mt. Panorama would be aamaaaazzzing. I hope there are a lot of tracks coming out as DLC, much more important than new cars as DLC IMO.

@Patriot: Must be pretty hard to be such a f*ing blind prick. It's on DLC(FOR FREE), cause the DVDs must have been already PRINTED! They can not add something to it,when it was already checked by MS. It would be such a annoyance to redo things already done, if they can also just give it to you by using a simple code.

The Official Playstation board might be a place for you. I hope you had a fanboygasm after posting your crap.

So they figure that for some odd reason you'd pay to drive in more cars that the cockpit mode looks exactly the same...

As someone who's planning to pick this up the first week, this sounds fantastic. I imagine it's part of a strategy against second-hand sales, which I guess I can't argue. Also, it's MORE CONTENT for FREE. Sign me up.

That being said? It wouldn't surprise me if it was partially due to limited disk space. Big woop. It's in the game, and it's extra content above what they've annouced.
taiki's Avatar - Comment posted on 10/07/2009 20:07

It's probably not due to limited disk space. Day-one DLC to means that it is just a several hundred kbyte token telling the game that such and such user has paid for DLC, what game it's for, what it unlocks, and some checksum data. LIke Oblivion's damned horse, or Vader/Yoda.

or in other words, a complete load of shit.
