Microsoft and developer Turn 10 announced today that Forza Motorsport 3 has gone gold, and confirm that a playable demo will be arriving on the Xbox Live Marketplace as of September 24th.
The demo features five playable cars, and lets you jump into any one of them to sample the full circuit of the Camino Viejo track. If you know of it, El Camino Viejo is actually a pretty nice course, so this already knocks the socks off of the demo they gave us for Forza 2. Let's hope the full game follows suit when it's released on October 27th.
This sampler will also let you check out the game's new rewind feature, so we'll all be able to decide whether it's a horrible idea that affects the way we play the game, or a great idea that removes a lot of the frustration that can come from sneezing at inopportune moments with the controller in your hand. It will also feature an online leaderboard so you can see how your lap times stack up against other people playing the demo.
Hit the jump for the vehicle list and more details in the official press release. Anyone else excited?
Forza Motorsport 3 Goes Gold and Announces Xbox LIVE Demo on Sept. 24
The white flag waves as “Forza Motorsport 3” has Gone Gold, entering its final lap before launching on Oct. 22 in Asia, Oct. 23 in Europe and Oct. 27 in North America exclusively on Xbox 360. To mark the occasion, Microsoft and Turn 10 today confirmed that a demo of the highly anticipated title will arrive on Xbox LIVE Marketplace starting Sept. 24.
The new demo lets you get behind the wheel of five of the world’s most amazing cars on the full circuit of the game’s Camino Viejo track. The demo includes five playable cars:
· 2007 Porsche #80 Flying Lizard 911 GT3-RSR
· 2010 Audi R8 5.2 FSI quattro
· 2009 Ferrari California
· 2008 Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution X GSR
· 2009 Mini John Cooper Works
You will be able to drive all of the cars in the demo in full cock-pit view as well as experience damage, rollover and try out the game’s new rewind feature as you take turns on a beautiful Spanish mountain course inspired by the Montserrat region just outside of Barcelona, Spain. When logged into Xbox LIVE, the demo will also support official leaderboards for lap times, giving you a further taste of what players will experience in “Forza Motorsport 3.”
With today’s Gone Gold announcement and the recent announcements around the fan-designed R8 V10 5.2 FSI quattro and the exclusive Limited Collector's Edition available only at GameStop (which includes 10 exclusive bonus cars, VIP community status, and more), there has never been a better time to pre-order “Forza Motorsport 3.”
I hope they tweaked the Auction House for the full game. Im still playing it and it's a bitch fighting for and getting cars sometimes.
Also, I think the rewind feature is a bad idea, at least for a sim. Race Driver GRID proved, at least to me, that I take risks I normally never would. In situations where it's "well, this MIGHT work.." you just go for it and if it doesn't work, well...rewind! It's good, or at least usable, for an arcade racer but simulations are about knowing what you can do with the car, not randomly trying to get through.
Especially lengthy and/or slow races.
That's why PD had the right idea when they released GT Prologue. Its more than a demo, its a taste of the perfection that is GT5 with more cars and tracks. Sure they could have given a free demo, but they added more to give you value.
You just called a $40 demo 'the right idea.'
also I think the way the physics are in both games are a bit different. What may work on GT may not work on Forza surprisingly, and vice versa. Unless it's just me, but I can play GT a lot better than Forza. It will be interesting to see if they upgraded the physics for Forza 3. Either way I'm getting both GT and F3.
