Forza 2 DLC track coming October 26, your wallet weeps photo

Good news, Forza fans -- Turn 10 and Microsoft have confirmed with GameSpot that Forza Motorsport 2 will be receiving its first downloadable track this Friday! Bad news, Forza fans -- It's really expensive!

Forza 2's 14th track, Twin Ring Motegi, will be available on October 26 for 600 Microsoft points. That's $7.50 in human being money, and no, that's not a typo. This single track -- based off a real-world track designed by Honda in 1997 -- is going to cost $7.50. In Turn 10's defense, the course does offer several racing paths, due to its "twin ring" layout. And the game's lead designer, Dan Greenawalt, does point out that each track can take up to five months to build.

Good thing Friday is pay day. Head over to GameSpot for video of the track in action, and an interview with Greenawalt discussing some of the finer points of a $7.50 digital race track for your $59.99 game.

Most racing games just don't appeal too much to me.

That is ridiculous. The tracks in Forza 2 are entirely uninteresting to look at. I'd might be interested if this was any different, but clearly it's not.

I love this game and I refuse to pay that. What a rip-off.

And the 300 meter walk from my apartment to my work COULD take up to 20 years, if I walked slow enough. "5 months" my ass, obviously they just couldn't come up with any other way to make it seem reasonable, and it still doesn't!

So... it took them 5 1/2 years to make the other 13 tracks?
between the backlash and no sales Ill give this at most 2 weeks before its price is cut.

Does not compute. Even if all you paid for in the main game was the 13 tracks, and Turn 10 programmed the game engine, modeled the cars, stamped the discs and printed the manuals ex gratia, that would still only be $3.85, or about 300 MSP per track.

I love me some Forza, but this needs to be boycotted. Unfortunately, like the Guitar Hero DLC, enough people will charge out there and buy it to vindicate Turn 10's filthy little bit of extortion.

But you know, you'll buy it, and make them happy and they'll keep doing it. Thus, you are screwing yourself by allowing this to happen. If you buy it you are the problem.

I am a car nut (I'm a man, of course) but this is fucking retarded. I wait this long and all you give me is one fucking track? An overpriced track? The think looks OK, but Jesus. Charge me 200 MS points. I get map packs for the same price with more in them than this.

Oh, and for those thinking that Turn 10 is trying to control the planet with one piece of downloadable content, shut the fuck up. Oh my God! Buycott this product! This isn't fucking Taco Bell exploiting farmers, you jackasses. Chill the hell out.

I'll probably buy it eventually. Not right away, but I still know I shouldn't be charged this. It's like when you go to the movies and popcorn is $10. It's overpriced, but whatever. I'm not going to Boycott AMC because their Snickers are overpriced.

We're not advocating boycotting AMC, we're advocating not buying the overpriced Snickers.

I really really want that track, but I wont buy it. I'd rather buy roadrunner cartoons. But then of course i did just get raped by paying 800 points just to change my Gamertag. Everyone must boycott this to send a message to MS that we will no longer be willing to get pwn'd by outrageous prices. Oh wait nm i forgot gamers rarely if ever come together for a good cause. Bastardos!

I don't think people are going to buy this. No one is that foolish with their money.

/thinks back when we were charged Horse Armor

Oh wait. Nevermind....

But seriously, all the people saying that 600 points is too much would all be changing their little hearts if Microsoft through in 250 achievements to just beat the tracks. For some reason, it's a fad to buy or rent games just to get achievements. WTF for? I dunno about other 360 users, but do you ever look at your friend's score and go "Whoa, that's impressive.". I don't know what any of my friends scores are, and I don't care.
