Forums, we have them: June edition photo

It’s another month and time for another update on the Forums.

The biggest thing that happened is the creation of a new section of the Forums. Inspired by the mighty Dyson of RetroforceGO! fame, we created the “Trade yo games!” trading section of the Forums. It all started with a thread that Dyson began in the RetroforceGO! forum, titled “RetroforceGO!'s Great Game Trading Thread of Justice!!” and we took that and ran with it.

The section of the forum has a simple setup. You make a thread listing what you are willing to trade then you list what you want and then you wait for the private messages to roll in. It’s been an amazing success as we have had many successful trades and I encourage everyone to check it out if you have anything you are looking for/want to get rid of. Please make sure you read the special rules for the Forum and get your trade on. We also have a thread there for Goozex as well so you can discuss, set up trades and connect in that manner too.

The forums themselves have been humming along quite well. We didn’t set any records this month but usage continues to rise. The gaming discussion forums will be hopping with E3 announcements soon and remember that we also have threads for most popular releases so you can talk about the game, trade tips, do your own reviews and whatever you like. More after the break.

Keep an eye on the daily recaps done by CTZ as every recap has a "forum thread of the day". It's along the lines of a "topic of the day" and typically revolves around new releases or news, however I send some epic community threads as well so you should check it when you read the recaps! CTZ also promotes Forum goings on in his "This week in community" posts as well!

I want to take the time to remind people to please use the search function and make sure you are posting things in the appropriate place. We would much rather have you bump up an ancient thread then have new threads created every couple weeks on the same subject. Also, the bar thread is the catch all for any random or off topic discussion. It is one of the most popular threads on the forums, so if you have a video to show people or a random question it should go in the bar. People will see it!

Then came the dark week. We had found a bug in the Forums and took them down to fix them but on the upside we took that time to update to the latest forum version as well as put the fix in. Hopefully, it will be a long long time before we have to take the Forums down again and I personally apologize for any inconvenience/tears it caused anyone.

As I'll keep saying, if you lurk, sign up and post. If you've never been, come check us out. If you post all the time, then keep it up! My private messages are always open and you can send me anything from questions, new banners or just bounce some ideas off me. Don't be shy!

That’s it for this month. See you next month my little Forumites!

Come to the trading forums, bitches. I'm at something like 15 trades so far. Someone's sending me a damn Dreamcast, and someone else sent me Grandia for PS1.

It's sweet.

Argh, for some reason my forums profile posts counts don't seem to appear at all in my normal blog profile.

@Cronic

That's because the forums and the main site are not connected. It's a huge undertaking because it's two entirely different platforms. It's being worked on though, so once it's ready to go it should count your forum posts.

SO GO MAKE SOME.

Thanks for the update technophile and keep up the good work on the forums. I will say though that the forums being down for a few days ruined work for me since when I go to work I really just go on the forums.

@ Projectexdus

I dunno if this is answering your question but its from a movie called Clockwork Orange. An excellent film about a violent teen who is the leader of a gang only to get caught, but that's just the beginning. Watch that movie, but make sure now kids are around because its defiantly not for them. There is also a book that goes by the same name which the movie was inspired from and if this is of any interest to you, it is directed by Stanly Kubric.

The movie is extremely faithful to the book it is adaptated from. The book though is extremely hard to read as it is written in Nadsat, a slang language created by the author Anthoney Burgess.

Yes, what people said was correct. It's from Clockwork Orange as is the quote (slightly modified). Brilliant film and one of my favorites.

The book is so worth reading and you feel like a badass when you can read it without having to look up the words in the little dictionary they provide. Also, the movie leaves out the last chapter of the book, where Alex grows out of his violence so it's not completely accurate. Kubrick read the American release (which omitted the last chapter) first and liked it more so he shot the movie that way.
