Welcome to the December edition of Forums, we have them. Otherwise known as "There are far too many games out now" edition. It's now officially the holidays but that hasn't stopped us over in Forum land.
I've got all sorts of things in store for December, some of which I will talk about in this article. I'm also going to recap what has gone down in the Forums in November (but that was so last month, psssh). So hold on tight and grow a beard as we do this thing!
As always, we had some more badge updates and they are some pretty tricky ones.
The Beedog badge of approval - Ah, Geraldo Beedog. That winged personification of JOURNALISM has gotten his own badge. How do you get it? Well, it's a secret to everybody. Be awesome and Señor Beedog may award you with this badge of his likeness.
The Legendary thread badge - This badge is awarded to those who start a truly legendary thread. Threads that will live on forever in the long history of the Forums. Specifically, in order to be legendary a thread has to reach over 1000 pages. Don't bother trying to get this badge. Spamming isn't cool.
The Dtoid Beard badge - We love beards here at Destructoid. Beards are pretty awesome. So this badge recognizes those who have a beard. Here are the Official rules from legendary beard owner Y0j1mb0 who also graces the badge with his visage. You can post your pictures in either a PM to me or in the Pictures thread.
So that covers some of the things added to the Forums in November.
December is going to be an exciting month for the Forums. I plan on doing an overhaul of the skins. Some design tweaks and such. Additionally, I'll be looking at some pre-made skins that may look good. They are easy to install and as always they will be optional.
In addition to that, I plan on making greater use of the sub-forums feature. The front of the Forum will remain the same for the most part but I plan on dividing out some of the sections so there isn't as much overlap and so it's easier to figure out where you should post stuff. If you want to see a first draft of this, please see this post. Keep in mind that is a first draft and suggestions are welcome.
I also plan on getting us a badge mod for the Forum as well. While the round badges have served us well I think I can do someone more creative with them as well as giving people more options as to how they are displayed. Getting a badge mod will help with the display part, but I think a whole art re-design is in order as well. Please see this page for an idea of where we are headed with that and feel free to submit your own designs.
