I like my fighting games like Guilty Gear X2 Or SFA3 Max.
If not typically Super Stardust Portable or Echochrome too. Im still stuck @ 11th place in survival online grrr! Just one away from top ten again.. If I had Lumines II...that When I'm on the go but wont be moving for awhile some RPGs like FF7, DQV (almost obviously), Or Monster Hunter Freedom Unite (Action RPG). Theyre either quick and fun or just plain awesome anywhere. Last edited by TurboKill; 07-08-2009 at 11:08 PM. Reason: Oh almost forgot... |

Gold is a fantastic choice, there's just so much to do. Likewise, any rpg is a solid choice, something like FFIV for DS being ideal. But the best would have to be the the Classic NES series for GBA. SO many greats; Castlevania, Metroid, Zelda 1 and 2. Hell, even stuff like Pac-man and Donkey Kong. Good times all around.

Indeed. I'm a fan of pretty much any puzzle game when I'm on the road due to the replayibility. Clubhouse Games has a ton of variety as well. I also bring along my pinball game collection, since those never get old.

It's hard not to agree with the already stated puzzle genre, I like to put in a bit of rhythm based games into the mix though, maybe because they waste a good amount of time IMO.

Animal Crossing: Wild World.
I started it for the first time on my way to China (16 hour flight with no stops. Kill me) and played it pretty much non-stop until my my battery died. Granted, I had to shut it off and set the clock 1 day ahead a few times, but that game really can provide so much mindless entertainment. |

Though it's quite new, I probably have to say Rock Band Unplugged.

I'm going to have to agree with what has already been said that any RPG and/or puzzle game is easily the best choice due to length and replayability. puzzle games to me also extremely effective at absorbing time.

When I went to Long Beach last month I brought my GBA SP and the original Link's Awakening with for the plane. When I fly to New York in a couple weeks I'm bringing the DS and Devil Survivor. Link's Awakening is a game I'll play anywhere, either version.

Yeah I'd usually stick with the RPG/puzzle genres. Also Metroidvania-types will keep me busy for hours. As far as I can remember, for my last long journey I played The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past again, with Meteos/WarioWare breaks.

Not the longest game I know but Super Mario World, I could replay this over and over, and getting all the dragon coins and secrete leves is a good challange.
Mario Kart DS I find even the single player addictive, but if you know someone else bringing a DS it increases it's fun and replayability factor. |

Last year I got Space Invaders Extreme just before a long road trip. Now it's one of my favorite games of all time.

Emulation software for the DS?
But the legitimate thing I like is yoshi's island gameboy advance port, because it's just that awesome |

Hotel Dusk Room 215 for the DS. I dunno, but there is just something about it that keeps calling me to play it over and over again on long trips.

I dunno if talking emulation is a no-no here -
anyway i have a GBA micro with a 32MB flash cart (oh my yes it is old - it plugs in through the printer port of the PC!) it is loaded with tons of old NES games and Sega master system games, and a couple Turbografx-16 and GB (B/W) as well. Can also put old Atari Lynx, Colecovision, etc on there. Basically, I don't think I've reflashed any of the games in.. 3 years? And that's pretty much all I will ever need to play for the rest of my LIFE. I love all the old 80s games and so many of them were well-represented on the NES (Galaga, Burgertime, Joust, Defender, Space Invaders, etc). The Micro is so damn tiny that it's too easy to bring anywhere, and the batteries last forever. I never even felt the need to buy a DS (and hell, I barely ever played any proper GBA games on it either... though Advance Wars was a blast!) |
