Special Rules for this forum only

From Dyson's post:

Quote:
Now, what we're suggesting here is a place where people can trade the game they no longer want, have an extra of, or just plain don't need. This thread is not for the selling of games, but for the community to trade amongst themselves for things that they may want or need. Games (or even systems) may be traded back and forth for whatever the two parties agree on, and each party pays their own shipping when sending to keep it all on the level. I highly suggest that putting your personal information on the forums, such as addresses and phone numbers, is a bad idea. We have a PM system here that you can discuss those things on, or if you like, you can just post your own email and take it from there.
Additionally, if you already posted in Dysons thread and want to break it out into a new thread, go right ahead.

I thought it would be a good idea if only people who have over 100 posts could post in this thread. It might keep out the riff raff.

The riff raff won't be coming here, I expect. And I think the people that will be trying to trade will have more sense than to try and trade with random fresh meat.

The basic idea has built-in controls already: If you send out stuff to someone and they don't send anything back, well, you know where they live.

Well, assuming they give you a real address.

I guess someone could give a fake address just to fuck with people, but they wouldn't get something for nothing either. Or they could use a P.O. Box or a friend's address or something. But then at least you have a lead.

It's all a matter of trusting someone. But that's nothing new. I only trade with people I trust. And that's about 99% of the regular Dtoiders. Destructoid is the only community I'm a member off, it's like a second family. Who wouldn't trust his own family?

(Actually I don't trust my real life family, bunch of douchebags)

All kidding aside, I trust most of you guys. And I'm sure deBloo can attest to my trustworthiness.

I have a feeling this forum will become a sub-community all on it's own and if anyone is up to no good, I would expect that to be spread around said community and nobody would trade with that person anyway.

That being said, who would fuck with this kind of thing and try to scam people and still be an upstanding member of the community? I'm guessing that if someone is shady, it will be pretty obvious.

Why yes very much so. And he didn't even have too.

As well as Wedge, as soon as he learned my purchase of PS1 came without a av video cable, he sent me his extra FIRST CLASS usps.... I love the community.

I have no worries either.

Is this strictly just games for games or systems? Could I propose trades of games for anything someone wants to offer me (gps, digital camera, bike, car, house?)... you get the point.

We've had a couple people trade games in exchange for art or strategy guides and things like that. I have no problem with it provided someone is getting games out of the deal.

You know, Fresh Meat like me.
Well, it's up to the traders to decided if they wish to trade with them. I don't want to inadvertently lock out someone who might be an excellent trader who just happens to be new.

Caveat emporium
