Persona 3 Community Gaming

After watching the Persona 4 Endurance Run videos on giantbomb every day, I had the crazy idea, that it would be fun to play through Persona 3 alongside the in-game calendar, that starts in the night of April 7th in 2009 and ends on January 31st 2010. But instead of doing this alone, maybe it would be fun to do it with multiple people. Everbody would play only up to the point, where the in-game date matches the actual date. Then they could post here about what they did or with whom they formed social links in the game. It would be really interesting to hear about the different ways of playing the game and discuss the current in-game events here.

Players, who were interested in Persona 3 but afraid of the enormous time investment can use this as an easy way to finally play the game, because the playtime would be stretched out over almost 9 months resulting in only a few minutes every day. Players, who already finished the game, can replay the game by using the NewGame+ feature, enjoy the story and maybe help first time players, who are stuck in certain parts.

Would anybody like to participate in something like that?

It'd be tight if you could actually manage that, but when I play persona I want to play for hours on end.

And plus with the way saving works in the game there are several occasions where you are forced to go through 2 days without being able to save so it might be difficult to do.

This really sounds interesting, but it'd take some serious self control to only play for the current day... And yeah, the saving could muddle up bits, but I suppose you could skip playing for a day or whatever to let reality catch up...

I have a half-done New Game+ sitting on my card. I'll pick it up where I left off. It might be hard for me to finish it off because it took me over two hours to finish the last battle.

NewGame+ is fine, since it only bypasses grinding from the previous game.

I've started to do this. I named the main character "Billy Hatcher".

I did the first nights' worth and named the character, "Pro Tagonist". That'll get old real quick.

I just named my character Hiro Ishiguro, because I named him like that the first time through and wanted to stick with it.

Also for all the NewGame+ people: Have you noticed the small easter eggs, when you first leave the school with Junpei? There is Akihiko standing in the background surrounded by girls and the tracking team is jogging past you. That was pretty nice.

As for saving: Most likely it's best to either save before going back to your room or after exploring in Tartarus.

That's a pretty fucking cool idea. Unfortunately, I'm too busy with 4 to even consider 3.

Though I'll be watching from the sidelines, just to see how many people actually stick with it.

Playing Persona 3 FES in its entirety can take up to 120 hours, so we shall see who can stick to it.
