Zombies have been done to death (pun intended), but have we done cute zombies yet? Don't answer that. Still, Epic is trying something a bit less uptight and more fun with upcoming game Fortnite.
Even though it seemed that men were gathering supplies to build a temporary fort to defend from zombies, the art style was cartoon-y and there was a more lighthearted vibe. Gears of War this isn't.

@Nintendan: Was going to say. Looks like the first mega-commercial Minecraft-inspired things are on their way out. (Could be tower-defense, though)
I don't think they're casting their net very broadly, though - if it's just the "build a fort and defend from zombies" aspect, they're going to be missing a good portion of the charm.
I love all these people deciding things about the game when we still know basically nothing about it. Hold your horses until some actual information is given then you can make your decisions.

"A tower defense game with zombies?
Man, it's a good thing Epic didn't go after any overused genre or conventions. Nice and fresh, that's the way to do it."
Isn't Plants vs Zombies a tower defense game with zombies? I'm still throwing this game into the "overused genre" category until I see more footage proving otherwise.
Also, I hate the art style.
I think it'll be Minecraft-y because Cliffy B used the phrase, "If you can find it, you can build it, and you can survive it"
Honestly, if you go out in the mornings to go scavenge for parts & weapons & hold out at night amongst the zombie/imp horde like I Am Legend/Minecraft, then i'd buy it.
I don't like REGULAR minecraft, I don't need an Epic take on the "game." The fuck were they thinking? After completely abandoning their original fanbase for decades with their Gays of War shit, the first non-GoW thing they do is this garbage?
Here I was expecting them to return to their roots with the franchise that MADE them who they are in the first place and they go the extreme casual route with some Monday Night Combat / Brink art-style meets Minecraft / Tower Defense gameplay.
Minute-long promotional trailers featuring no gameplay footage or additional information whatsoever are all I need to go on to decide whether or not a game is utter crap. I also only read books with non-cartoony covers that give the impression that the contents of the book are highly original.

No.
I'll still try it if it's fun.
I would be a lot less cynical it if it wasn't zombies. COME ON. JUST STOP, PLEASE.

Yes, yes we have.
You should check and see if the warranty on your Internet Sarcasm Detector™ is still valid. I think it may not be functioning properly.

(when invasion starts) Now it's zombies.
I am now wondering what that little black spirit thing was.

It might turn out to be a fun romp, but I really couldn't give a damn... Just no interest in the concept at all...
That being said, I'm sorta curious about this.
