Forget Zeno Clash - ACE Team releases an awesome new game photo

ACE Team, the guys behind the upcoming Zeno Clash, have announced that due to the ridiculous stress and time it took to make ZC, they're going to be shifting gears and focusing on point and click adventure games, as they have shorter development cycles and they'll be able to pump more of them out. I suppose I can't really blame them, since I imagine the two straight years of sleepless nights have taken a heavy toll on all the members of the team.

In case you're nervous about the direction they're taking, they've released their first game, The Malstrums Mansion, for free on their website. If this game is any indication of the kind of work they're going to be putting out in the future, I'd say this change in direction is a good thing. Zeno Clash was pretty good, but I think this game blows it out of the water. They're looking for feedback, so once you play it head on over to their forums and let them know what you think!

Take note gamers: April 1st, 2009 is the day that ACE Team officially became the greatest developer in the world.

Holy freaking crap this game is awesome. Better than that Spore April Fool's game.

2 years is too long to make a game? Wat? 2 years is average for making a game. 1 year for an expansion. 3-4 years to make an mmo game. I think these guys are pulling an April Fool's Day atomic wedgie on us.

The problem is... since this is an April Fool's joke game, does it actually have an ending? I only die by wolf or explosion...

rushtodeath: Yes because well written old school adventure games for free really suck. God help us all.

So anyone know where to find the will?

If you beat the knocker on the door in the fireplace with a shovel, you can use a Copper Key on it. Outside is a graveyard. Hit the grave with the phoenix on it, and you'll get the will/scroll. I just don't know where to use it :(

I've found the scroll (that is, the written will of Wolfram Malsturm) and read it next to his bones, but nothing happened. I've also read it in the Shrine of Baphomet with similar non-result. The tablet near the bones says to read Wolfram's will in 'the place where he prayed to that other god', but nothing happens when I do. Am I missing something? Am I simply taking a leap of faith and assuming that Wolfram worshiped Baphomet? I've read his scroll in every single area of the game to no avail.

@Shoop In the defaced chapel. You can read what you are supposed to so next to the bones in the secret passage off the master bedroom. If you can't get to the chapel because of the spirit you can get past him by showing him something. It has to do with the object behind him (that make him fade when he looks at them).

I've read the scroll in every single room, including next to Wolfram's bones chained up in the catacombs and in front of the stone head of Baphomet. What am I doing wrong that I cannot summon his spirit?

@Big Z:

You've got to the chapel at the extreme north of the mansion? That's where he was worshipping the other god. If you just use the scroll there it should open a slot behind the painting (you're close to his spirit but there's a few more steps after reading the scroll).

The mausoleum where the coffins of he and his wife are? My way beyond is barred by a door that (I presume) wants a silver key, which I cannot find.

@Big Z

The silver key is hanging on the great stairwell to the left of where you encountered the ghost. You have to knock it down with something.

Thank you! I have no idea how my eyes glossed over that key before, but sure enough they had.

But what do I do after I've read the scroll? I've tried to use my trusty shovel and a series of onyx keys on the revealed stone block's keyhole, but every action prompts a fatal earthquake. Have I missed something yet again?

I resisted the overwhelming urge to take my stalwart companion, Yon Shovel, to Wolfram's dessicated corpse in favor of actually winning the game. Thanks for all your help, Parox!
