Forget Guitar Hero, Harmonix says they got something even better photo

Besides confirming that they indeed have absolutely nothing to do with Guitar Hero 3 and the future of that franchise, Harmonix told Gamasutra that they are instead working on something bigger and better. From Harmonix producer Daniel Sussman:

"We are instead working on a different music game project, one that is a bigger and more ambitious endeavor than we felt we could pursue within the bounds of the Guitar Hero franchise."

Greater than Guitar Hero and the entire franchise? That's a tall order. Wanna take bets on a Band Hero-type game in the works for Harmonix? You know, every single instrument would be represented. Anyone got a better guess than that?

No way. It's gonna be Trombone Hero for PS3, in which we will take full advantage of the controller's tilt sensing capabilities. Brass is the future, bitches.

Hell yeah, if it was trombone hero we could do some sick Ska tunes in a game. Now thats a game worth buying a PS3 for. Anything that can be an excuse to play Ska in a game is worth my money.

Cow bell Hero! or Conductor Hero (move that motion sensing controller around like a conductor would)

Or Guitar Idol. Imagine Guitar Hero and American Idol having a baby, you go live on tv and play the game to get a... record contract? I dunno.

I know that they also registered Guitar Villain but what the hell are they up to? My guess: it has an online component and will let people make their own music with it. The "creation" element in Guitar Hero so adding an element of that, for those that want it in a separate mode combined with a play mode for the rest of us should be a hella game. Or they just jumped the shark.

The creation element would be huge, my only concern though is that they would shoot themselves in the foot concerning sequels. But then again, subsequent releases may see newer features that can help people expand on their creativity. And then again, people still keep buying Madden over and over.

I want to see something that lets you play an entire set (like 20 songs or so...see how tough you really are), create your own music, set up your own stage and control the lighting and what not. Rule.

Im gonna go with the Band hero. Or maybe they werent kidding about accordion hero! OMG theyre making accordian hero!!!!! lol. Anyway im guesseing theyre gonna have a band mmo thingy where u hook it up to ur console/pc* with a usb, and it comes with different things. Like if want to play bass in the band u get the bass edition of the game? Guitar edition. Drum edition. Synthesizer** edition. And Vocal*** edition. Wow... just get ur online set up and be ready to rock! But that would really suck if u couldnt get online on ur console :P.
* Because i dont have a 360 or PS3
** Me and my friends had a discussion about this... last summer.
*** Note: Microphone may not be included because of possible fact that you may suck at singing. If included be prepared to take a test to see if you could actually be a vocalist****.
**** Avaliable at participating retailers.
