Force Unleashed sells 1.5 million units, on track to be the best-selling SW game photo

Just like the demo, the retail version of Star Wars: Force Unleashed is breaking records. According to LucasArts, Force Unleashed has sold over 1.5 million copies in its first week and apparently is on track to become the best-selling Star Wars game ever. People apparently enjoy Star Wars, despite George Lucas always breaking the dream.

Force Unleashed is also the fastest selling selling SW game, but the numbers are a bit skewed. The figures are based on the sales from all five platforms for the game, which is why the apprentice is beating out Dash Rendar and his heroics from Shadows of the Empire.

Despite Force Unleashed not having an awesome Wampa cheat code, we still gave it some pretty decent marks. Check out the review if you’re interested in the hype, or wait until next year when George Lucas decides to kick the series again by cloning Luke Skywalker and putting him in a more distant future - without lightsabers.

Good. I don't care what anybody says, I've really loved what I've played so far. I'm glad to see it getting the sales it deserves.

I really, really liked the on on SNES but I can't remember the name though.....I think it was Star Wars something or other, lol.

It wasn't a bad game (played the demo) but I will wait for a price drop before I buy.

That's a rather impressive cosplay in the article picture.

Yeah the game is pretty cool. It just irritates the fuck out of me that I try to grab (or pretty much Force anything) something and my character turns to face what I was apparently targeting somehow.

Jet Troopers piss me off cause theres tons of them and I can't get my lock on to them

and the big dark troopers piss me off just because they kick my ass while i'm trying to get rid of the nuisances

finally, he just doesn't respond to commands as fast as I would like.

other than that cool stuff though, good story too.

I guess now there's even less chance of another Jedi Knight game being made, if it's rubbish like this that sells.

I think they were on the right track with this game... just needed more polish. The bugs and certain design choices, that I don't agree with, are frustrating me and making me glad I rented it.

Story was good. Core gameplay is a bit iffy, but the game engine makes up for that (great physics etc). Pity they had little idea of what their game is actually good at... so many stupidly frustrating things in that game. So many things that should have been awesome that instead were just a pain in the ass.

I want the guys who made the Jedi Knight games to put that gameplay into this game engine; and the Force Unleashed guys write the story. If that didnt turn out awesome, id have little hope left for SW games.

Just finished it up today, and I really liked it -- both endings.

For such an 'almost there' game, it has sold a surprising amount. I guess that is what you get with a vicious marketing campaign and a zealot-filled fanbase.

I don't think it is as good as the Dark Forces series was in its time.

I really liked it- there were a couple of irritating gameplay points, but so far I have finished the ps3 and the psp versions and they were both good- big differences between the 2, different bosses, a couple of different story lines-

Proving that mediocre games still have a place in this industry.

@Demtor: It's just proving that any game will sell by the shitload if you market it enough. I only played the demo, and enjoyed it, but clocking at 6 hours the game is too short to justify a buy

It is really sad that sales of this game are going to blow KotOR out of the water.
