Force Unleashed breaks demo record, also people like Star Wars photo

In a mere eight days after its demo release, Star Wars: The Force Unleashed has reached one million downloads over Xbox Live. According to Edge (via OXM) this is a record. I would like to meet the man that keeps track of these numbers.

I have come to the conclusion that Star Wars fans have broken this record by deleting and downloading the beta continuously. Just like how fans clog the movie theatres for days at a time to watch George Lucas butcher their favorite fiction. The man still makes money, even if you're sour about Padme dying of a broken heart.

The Force Unleashed has reached an estimated 2.3 million downloads over Xbox Live and PlayStation Network combined, which is an insane number for a demo. We’ve had the opportunity to play several different versions of the game (including the demo) and thus far we’re pretty high on it. Perhaps Star Wars fans will actually have something to be proud of.

Star Wars: The Force Unleashed
ships to stores on every conceivable platform on September 16 this year.

Not surprising at all. Not only was the demo great, but us Star Wars (and Serenity) fans are a very loyal bunch. We lap it up like a kitten to spilt milt.

*Note: Serenity mentioned simply because it rocks. No other reason necessary*

BTW, Major League Baseball seems to have something going on with The Force Unleashed on the 16th. If you go to every MLB Teams schedule page, there is a pic of Darth Vader on the 16th and when you hover over it, it says "THE FORCE UNLEASHED". Don't know if this means they are going to have Vader throwing out the first pitch or what. Free light sabers to the first 1000 attendees to each game?

I'm a part of history! Yeah!

I still haven't played it though.

I have a friend who is obsessed with this demo. I really enjoyed the time I spent with the demo naked on the couch right after sex one night.

I'll probably buy this game.

@Gameboi "Not surprising at all. Not only was the demo great, but us Star Wars (and Serenity) fans..." don't forget farscape!

Serenity/Firefly rocks. But what's a Force and how do I unleash it?

btw Tycho of PA didn't speak too highly of the actual finished game. I did have fun with the demo, despite not caring for that Star Trek Wars thingy. Might buy it on the cheap in a few months.

It's a cool demo, there are some quirks, but I think I'll end up buying the game eventually.

I'll buy it because it is fun and Star Wars... doesn't matter that it's not that great of a game

I'm a little surprised that Bioshock doesn't hold the crown here. If you will recall the internet pretty much came to a screeching halt when that demo was released

Meh. I am concerned about the quality of this game, mostly due to the fact that LucasArts all but collapsed during the production.

And being a Star Wars fan from way back, I just don't understand why they have to invent new ways to hold the lightsaber in every new jedi game. He holds it upside down? SERIOUSLY? Maybe in the next game he will hold it with his feet? Just hold it like a friggen lightsaber goddammit.

Bah... Imay be renting this but it because is just some faceless action game with the Star Wars logo slapped on it, full of bugs and rushed to death...

Yes I was among the million people that was able to play the demo version so I can safely say this game is FAIL... I think is better for them to re-release the titles from super nintendo on XBL or PSN...

@Max Power: The Force is in my pants, YOU know how to unleash it ;)

I intend to buy this, but I think I'll wait until I read a few reviews of it to get an idea of how bad or bad ass it's going to be.

That's funny. I was actually excited for the game but the demo put me off it.

I agree with Johnny Justice. Was there anyone else TOTALLY underwhelmed by the demo? The demo made me go from "must buy" to "rental."

Yeah the demo was very average. I'll still rent it, but I don't know about buying it.
I might buy it for Wii.
