Foo Fighters' The Colour and the Shape hitting Rock Band next week photo

MTV Games and Harmonix are making good on their album downloadable content promise, with next week's Rock Band update being the Foo Fighters' 1997 album, The Colour and the Shape

It'll run you $19.99 (or 1600 MS Points) for all of the tracks, or $1.99 (160 MS Points) per song. The 11 tracks that join "Everlong" (already available on the Rock Band 2 disc) to complete the album are:

"Doll," "Monkey Wrench, "Hey, Johnny Park!," "My Poor Brain," "Wind Up," "Up In Arms," "My Hero," "See You," "Enough Space," "February Stars," "Walking After You," and "New Way Home."

While it's tough for my American brain to process the use of the letter "u" in the word "color," that won't stop me from picking this up next week. I'm not sold that all of the songs will make great Rock Band tunes ("Doll" is a good song, but may be "boring" to play), it's a great album nonetheless.

On a side note, I heard a great rumor that while recording this record, Dave Grohl snuck into the studio late at night and re-recorded all of drummer Taylor Hawkins' tracks. I can't confirm that, but the thought of perfectionist Grohl donning a ninja costume and sneaking into the studio to pound on the skins has always made me laugh.

Wasn't William was the drummer for C&S. I thought Hawkins didn't join the band until after that album, right?

Am I confused?

William Goldsmith was their drummer on tour for the debut album, but when it came time to record C&S he was out and Grohl recorded all the drum parts himself. Taylor didn't come on until after the album was finished.

"My Hero" may be the best drum part in Rock Band yet.

Hell yeah!

Also, as noted about, the drums on this ARE all Dave. Taylor didn't join the band until the next year.

They really need some Radiohead... or I will start to lose interest.

Actually,Dave Grohl recorded the entire album in one take,on a one track recorder, while playing all the instruments at the same time and singing his own 3-part harmonies.

He is just that DAMN good.

I'm all over monkey wrench and my hero. But I think I'm stretched a bit thin financially to buy the whole thing. If this was their debut album I wouldve blindly bought that.

It's a good album, color and shape but the big stand out song is already in the game already so it dampens the must buy factor a bit.

YES! This is my favourite album ever! Because of Everlong, but i love most of the other songs too, and theyre gonna be awesome fun to play, for the most part.

Only thing is, it seems they're not making Everlong available for RB1 owners, which is all we have in NZ :(. Way to screw me over and lose a chance to make money Harmonix... please make me wrong!

Sweet; but I won't be satisfied until The Bends and Pinkerton hit (if they ever do).

I'm getting it all. Fuck yeah, I was hoping this would be here soon. My secret fave off the album is the (short) "Up in Arms".

William Goldsmith is still heard drumming on Doll and the slow beginning part of Up In Arms. Other than that, all Grohl Power baby. May persuade me to buy Rock Band!

1600 points is worth it just for Hey, Johnny Park!

I'm totally playing this album from start to finish... just like my teenage dreams.

Absolutely agree with Fishbulb. The second I saw this headline Hey, Johnny Park started playing in my head! Only thing better than this is the fact that blood sex sugar magic is tracked for RB2. Seriously if I could play sir psycho sexy on a video game bass, guitar, and drums I think my life would be complete :)

I love this album. I'll definitely have to download it when it gets released. Wind Up seems like it would translate pretty well to Rock Band
