Back at PAX, developer Bioware was keen on the PS3, believing their work on Dragon Age: Origins with Edge of Reality gave them the ability to develop for the PS3 in-house. In a conversation with Jostiq, co-founder Greg Zeschuk said the oh-so-hard-to-develop-for-console was a key platform, and the developer had plans to continue to support it.
“We have quite a few people working in-house as well. So yeah, absolutely,” Bioware co-founder Greg Zeschuk told Joystiq in a PAX interview, referring to being able to do PS3 development in-house.
“We think it’s one of the key platforms, obviously, so we're definitely going to be doing PS3. You know, I can't say anything about Mass Effect in that regard but you know, I can definitely say Dragon Age and other things we do will definitely be on PS3.”
He added that it was “great” getting the PS3-development experience from creating Dragon Age, and he thinks Bioware is “at the position where future PS3 stuff will be really solid.”
Flash forward: Cool stuff. I haven’t heard much about the PS3 version of Dragon Age, but I’m guessing the lack of significant Internet outrage means it was a successful project. I assume you guys are up for more Bioware on your PS3s, right? Lord knows I've been waiting for PSN version of Baldur's Gate. (... And Mass Effect.)

[Update: Dates are important, by the way. Hit the break to see what I had to remove because my skull was too focused on the gym and not enough on, you know, work. Grumble. Grumble.]
Bioware, unlike Half-Life and Left 4 Dead 2 developer Valve, doesn’t have some weird beef with the PS3. After partnering with the experienced PS3-folks at Edge of Reality for the console port of Dragon Age: Origins, the RPG studio believes it now has the right stuff to do PS3 games in-house, and furthermore, is keeping the shiny and black but oh-so-hard-to-develop-for-console in its future console-title plans.

I know a few 'Toiders have seen the PC, PS3 and 360 versions and could compare: it seems in terms of visuals and tearing/frame rate, it's PC>360>PS3. I don't think I'll ever see it on PS3, so I'm just going on what people have told me.
A question I've always had is that PC games now have "anamorphic" standard/widescreen interfaces. You know? Top right is top right no matter what. But when I'm playing this game (all games) on my PS3, and I've got an HDTV, all their interface is still crammed into a little standard-tv size block in the middle of my HD resolution. For most games it's just kind of frustrating, but in DAO they're a deep geeky rpg where they're expecting you to read tomes and whatnot. It actually gets in the way of the game. I hope they get it worked out for DAO2.
Honestly, I think that PS3 and 360 have to be the same for DA. Not because I've played both versions, or even one version, but because I've seen a ton of people state very matter of factly that they've heard one or the other is better. This makes me think that what it comes down to are the base opinions of who likes what system.
In fact, I actually saw someone post (near verbatim), in relation to Assassin's Creed 2's ps3 frame tearing issue: "There's no excuse for this anymore. Dragon Age: Origins went PC>PS3>360, so both platforms should at least come out close to equal."
"Th
keep in mind that joystiq had this interview months ago during PAX, before bioware had any clue how Dragon Age would do on the ps3. and if another interview were done today, i'm pretty sure Bioware wouldn't have many things to say about the quantities DA sold on the ps3.

"Here's a Thanksgiving treat from the vault – we've dug out the following interview with BioWare co-founder (and Group Creative Officer of EA's newly formed RPG/MMO Group) Greg Zeschuk from earlier this year at PAX."

clinth: What are you talking about? Do you even know what "anamorphic" means?
OH GOD YES!!!
