Five Guitar Hero III song packs dropping in June photo

In an effort to try to catch up to their competition, Activision has announced that it will be releasing five downloadable song packs for Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock in June. The first pack -- the Motorhead Track Pack -- is now available, and I just wrote about it a few seconds ago and refuse to repeat myself.

On June 12, an Isle of Wight Festival-themed pack will be available which features Kasbian's "Shoot the Runner," Kaiser Chiefs' "I Predict a Riot," and a live version of The Sex Pistols' "Problems." Only two of the five packs available in June have been revealed; no word on what we may see after next week.

This explosion of DLC is interesting, especially hot on the heels of the recent Guitar Hero World Tour announcement. For anyone who plans on making this investment, you can only cross your fingers and hope that this content will also be  playable in the new game this fall.

Very few songs would get me to buy DLC for GH3.

Eh, just the fact that I can only play guitar with these songs annnd that they're more expensive turns me off immediately.

This isn't Activision starting to catch up, this is Activision smelling blood in Europe and moving in for the kill. They're looking at the people doubtful about buying Rock Band but being tempted by its DLC. If Activision can get up to that sort of DLC schedule they could claim Europe for Guitar Hero.

Holy shit, I just said the other day that I'd love to see "Shoot the Runner" playable on Rock Band or Guitar Hero. I love that song. :3

Activision loves their GH cash cow. Cross your fingers all you want they are in it for the profit. When World Tour comes out you will have to re-buy tracks if they are even offered. Don't hold your breath

As a Guitar Hero III owner, I feel compelled to say .... WHERE THE F*#K IS DLC FOR THE WII???!!!

God damn it, Nintendo! You put USB ports on the damned things! USE THEM!!! If you need to encrypt the hard drive or something to lock it (logically) to that Wii, then fine! Go ahead! Just give me a place to store Wii DLC!

...grumble...grumble...prints money...grumble...doesn't print f**king common sense, apparently...grumble...

Wow, if you think about it every song in GH and Rock Band should be the live version. Am I right?

What a cunning plan! Release lots of DLC now to get people interested in GH3, and thereby GH4, and then force them to buy the same music packs when GH4 comes out (or be short on music to use for DLC, but Activision loves them some monies).
