Fist of the North Star meets Dynasty Warriors? What? photo

First teased at TGS, a Fist of the North Star game has now been officially unveiled and given scant details by Tecmo Koei. The game, based upon the post-apocalyptic Manga, is heading to PS3 and Xbox 360 next year. Judging by its name, however, it seems the game won't ship in a form that you expect.

In Japan, it's be known as Hokuto Musou. Fans of the Dynasty Warriors series will know that "Musou" means "Warriors" and titles in the series are known as Shin Sanguo Musou in Japan. So yes, it appears that this new game is North Star Warriors, with the expected fighting game being replaced instead by a one-versus-all brawler.

I personally think that sounds friggin' awesome, but would you be interested in the Warriors series taking on Manga properties such as Fist of the North Star? Give me an Ichi the Killer Warriors and I'll be all over that sh*t!

News of this game had me excited, but the mention of DW into it now has be worried.

Koei have been plugging this same game design, different skin thing, for over a decade now. So far since their merger with Tecmo, we've seen NG2 censored somewhat, so I really hope they know what they are getting themselves in for with Hokuto No Ken.

No exploding heads and severed limbs and I won't be happy. What we really don't need is another one vs millions beat em up game, and in tune with the Hokuto No Ken's post apocalypse universe, it may seem less credible.

Don't mess this up, KT.

Hokuto no Ken as a Musou title sounds entirely appropriate. Think about how many times Kenshiro has gone against hordes of baddies. Awesome characters and story too.

YES. Any Warriors games are A-OK by me, especially any new ventures. Never been a huge Fist fan particularly but I'm happy for any change from the main Dynasty series (which I adore, but there are a helluva lot of them and any variation is nice).

This game should be perfect to import too because I doubt that you need to know Japanese to play it properly. I guess it also helps to know the story. It's a good thing that the entire series is now streaming on crunchyroll, funimation, and hulu for free! That's so f'ing ROCK.

That's not what musou means, and that's not the Japanese reading of the kanji in Dynasty Warriors' Japanese title. See?

Fuck year. I was hoping the next step after making a Guilty Gear type game they'd do something that played like God Hand, but this is still great.

Also, I think a Gurren Lagann game would be better as a Zone of the Enders type deal.

I'm pretty sure a Gurren Lagann game would fly, but sadly devs have tried in the past to get Berserk to stick, but most gamers don't have any idea what it is. I would like to see one though.
