Fist of the North Star coming to Europe, gets new screens

8:40 AM on 03.05.2010 // Jim Sterling

Koei Tecmo has today confirmed that Fist of the North Star is coming to Europe. Omega Force's marriage between the popular Manga and Dynasty Warriors' one-against-all gameplay is looking supremely hot, and while a worldwide release was certain, it's nice to have it in black and white.

To celebrate, some new screenshots have been released for your viewing pleasure, so check them out in our gallery. This is where I hilariously mention that you're already dead before going ATATATATATATATATATATATATATATATATA!

Letchworth, Herts.—March 5th, 2010—TECMO KOEI EUROPE, in conjunction with FIST OF THE NORTH STAR creators NSP proudly reveals that it will bring FIST OF THE NORTH STAR to Europeans gamers in a title of merciless action and violent hand to hand combat.

The hugely anticipated FIST OF THE NORTH STAR is a successor to the side-scrollers and beat ‘em ups of old, but brought bang up to date with ground-breaking physics, combat, and gore inspired by the cult comic. An uncompromising vision of a ruined future, FIST OF THE NORTH STAR promises to be a no-holds-barred brawler to delight all fighting fans as well as giving FIST OF THE NORTH STAR enthusiasts the game they have been waiting for.

A ravaged Earth struggles to survive after the nuclear holocaust has left the world in ruins. Pitiful survivors band together in communities and villages, trying to live on what little resources they have left. In the wastelands beyond vicious gangs prey on them for their resources, or sometimes just for fun. A mysterious martial artist named Kenshiro, a man with seven scars on his chest and the chosen successor of the legendary assassin's art Hokuto Shinken (北斗神拳, The Divine Fist of the North Star) has sworn to protect the weak and innocent from the malicious gangs that roam the scorched planet.

Game Features:

• Destructible and interactive environments – In the hugely interactive environments players can smash or pummel their enemies into different objects and buildings as well as pick up objects to maim and obliterate groups of malicious gangs.

• Face down dozens of enemies at once - String combos and attacks together to perform unstoppable killing moves. Power up, then unleash furious Hokuto Shinken special attacks.

• Dozens of unlockable moves - Blistering finishing attacks that can wipe out entire gangs in one blow, or cause single enemies to explode in a shower of gore.

• Hidden characters - Taken straight from the FIST OF THE NORTH STAR universe, players will be able to unlock unforgettable characters such as Mamiya and Rei, amongst others.

• Faithfully reproduced FNS visuals - Every scene and level has been faithfully followed the iconic visual style of the original comic series.

• Original scenarios for every playable character – As well as having their own stories faithfully reproduced from the source material, every character will have a new original story and ending specially made for this game, giving the fans something they could only dream of.

FIST OF THE NORTH STAR has not yet been rated by PEGI. Final game name TBC.

I caught a reflective mumbling about MGSV's open structure and how it doesn't sit well with me, to be published whenever I litter it with images.

I cracked and bought Final Fantasy Dimensions on Android last night. Half off sounded like just the right price, though I wish this came out on 3DS or even the Vita but at least it gives me something to do on the porcelain throne!

Heading off to Spiel in a bit. A whole lot of games there, just of the cardboard variety. I love me some board games.

Finally finished The Witcher 3. Definitely one of the best games I've played in my 30 years or so of gaming. Now onward to Ground Zeroes/Phantom Pain.

MGS Online Day 3. I have 3 character up to level 10 now, one in each class. They're all pretty handy, but I do miss the scout's mark speed the most on other classes.

The SW: Battlefront is pretty and has great sound design, but the gameplay is so shallow and has seemingly no depth! If the full game is like this I will be disappointed.

Dear Playboy: Love your video game coverage, but how about you start making some topless unboxing videos? Seeing someone unwrap a copy of Call of Duty is boring. Seeing a topless Playmate unwrap a copy of anything is awesome!

In happier news, Level-5 is already talking Yo-Kai Watch 2's Western release, and better/worse yet, they're considering amiibo support for the series! And hey, if they can't get Jibanyan into Smash, that'd be one way to get the West's attention.

I drank a glass of Ovaltine for the first time in years today. It was nice. Like drinking a glass of my childhood, complete with ignorance, embarrassing angst, tears (so many tears) and night terrors. Ah, the good 'ol days.

[img][/img] This is just depressing. Digital classics on consoles are such a great idea, but it's like not a single company wants to really go through with it.
