Fish.Trip Runner 2's Reverse Merman is a real catch
Earlier this week we learned that Gaijin Games' Bit.Trip Presents: Runner 2 would be among the 50+ titles heading to the Wii U during Nintendo's incredibly vague and extended "launch window." And while that's exciting news and everything, I'd like to take this opportunity to talk about something far more delicious. To date the Santa Cruz-based indie studio has revealed some of Commander Video's supporting cast for the for the pseudo-sequel to the fourth game in the Bit.Trip series. This week they've revealed the Reverse Merman, who joins Whetfart Cheeseburger and Unkle Dil in the title's growing cast of edible characters. With his golden scales and held held high, the fish-like man is certainly an impressive, if incredibly strange, figure. I do have some misgivings about his choice of athletic footwear though. It's incredibly difficult to run in flip-flops, but his tenacity certainly is admirable. Art Friday!!! - Reverse Merman [Runner 2 Dev Blog] Did you know? Legacy Comments (will be imported soon)Yeah, the art style is definitely a step back and the game looks kind of disgusting in general. I imagine the game is still fun though What's incredibly vague about the launch window? The article you linked says that it's from the launch date until the end of March. It's right there. At the top. I was very optimistic, but God this game is ugly. Is this really the same dev as the bit.trip games? Every character has been so unappealing. Maybe I just don't get it but Runner2 looks just fucking ugly. And this particular character alone. What are they thinking? I'm not prude but this is a children's game for fucks sake. Put your disgusting characters in another game and leave it out of the usually family friendly BIT.TRIP games.
Seriously man... @Enzi I don't recall Bit.Trip ever actually being "family friendly". I mean just because there aren't any guns or the art style isn't realistic doesn't mean its automatically "family friendly". I personally thought that some of the games were really challenging and I am doubtful a child would actually be that good at it. I think that the problem is that your mind just conceived it to be "family friendly" because maybe it obviously isn't a "core" game or something idk. hahah Just my thoughts haha I'm all about Whetfart Cheeseburger. Don't know why everyone is calling this game is ugly, when you really take a good look you'll find that it's actually abhorant. Yeah, I'm not understanding you fuckers either. This game looks fucking beautiful, the art style is original and the characters all burst with personality. I for one can't fucking wait, especially since I know Meat Boy is a character here. To even things out, I will say that I love the look of this game, and this reverse merman is hilarious. Look at him! He's a fish head with legs and balls. I don't think the graphics are "disgusting" but the new style is not nearly as appealing. I think the SNES graphics in the bonus levels should've been used on the whole game. 3:00 AM on 05.10.2013 Save big time on a bunch of Bit.Trip games on SteamGaijin Games has a huge sale going on right now on a bunch of the Bit.Trip games over on Steam.
