The sequel to WiiWare title LostWinds has been confirmed, and as you may imagine I am most pleased about it considering what a huge fan I was of the first game. CVG posted some video footage of the game this morning, and while brief, it does give you a chance to see Toku's new ability to change the seasons, which ought to be an interesting game mechanic indeed.

There's no release date for Winter of the Melodias, but what we can rely on is a longer game with more to do, according to the developers. In the meantime keep an eye out on the Frontier website (there are 5 screens there to check out too!) and we'll bring you more info as soon as we hear it. I can't wait!

It looks like they're improving upon the already good original. However, I think I had enough Lost Winds in the original title.

I haven't played the original but it looks beautiful just like its sequel. Thinking I should probably give this a download soon.

Lost winds felt like the first chapter in a much larger game. I kind of which they'd ditched Wiiware after the first and made a fully length retail game. Still this will be excellent.

Awesome! Surprised they added so much to be honest, the winter mechanic looks really interesting.

I agree with Paroxysm - a full retail game would be more interesting to me than a WiiWare title, because it seemed like they had a lot of good ideas. Still, the next chapter will make a great WiiWare addition. Here's hoping they make the in-game puzzles just a little bit tougher though. ;)

I'm still irritated about having to leave the page to watch the video and then come back here if I want to leave a comment.

But yeah, ditto to Paroxysm and ejamer. Guess we'll have to reserve judgement until we play it though.

For those asking for a full retail release, consider that the series is evolving into the same episodic format seen in Tales of Monkey Island, Strong Bad, and so on. If it tops out at three episodes then you are looking at around $30 for, at least, 9 hours of gameplay. $20 and two episodes later could bring that up to roughly 15 hours.

The only downside is that, apparently, WiiWare will never see discounts. So, for better or worse, the price of all X episodes will not come down.

looks nice, but I don't think I want to give money to Frontier's founder David Braben. he's that whiny little bitch that complains about used game sales.

Yeah, cuz used game sales is a great thing, and all developers should support this practice, which results in zero money for their 2+ years of hard work.

Right.
