SEGA has made a formal announcement regarding Yakuza 1 & 2 HD, discovered by attentive internet users last week, confirming the upcoming release. They also passed along a first trailer and have opened up a dedicated site for the re-release which shows comparison shots of the original games and their updated versions.
I played the hell out of the first Yakuza and then skipped right ahead to the third, so I'll probably grab this just to give the second a run (despite knowing all the plot details already -- it's just fun to beat on people). I think it's safe to bet that we'll see this release outside of Japan, as the series has always managed to make it stateside despite remaining a bit under the radar.
Good stuff here.
