First trailer for id's Rage: needs more Cyberdemons

8:38 PM on 08.03.2007, Nex 40 comments

     Rage

Admidst a flurry of announcements at today's QuakeCon, id software revealed their brand-new IP, Rage. Apparently the game is set to be a departure of sorts from their previous work, in that driving features heavily, and blowing stuff up is almost a secondary objective. With the lack of cybernetic, psuedo-religious ultra-violence, will Rage still captivate as DOOM and QUAKE have in the past? Whatever the end result, the tech -- id's brand-new id Tech 5 Engine -- behind this thing looks sexier than Jesus sodomizing a Large Hadron Collider.

Looks like id, smells like id, but I can't really taste id. Maybe their trying to break away from the doom initiation, and if they are, I wholeheartedly support them. This looks fucking awesome.

Well they could have picked a better name then "Rage". Maybe their next title will be "Depression" or "Mean".

But yeah, most of the beginning was shown as a Mac preview awhile ago if I remember correctly. Looks awesome to me though. Kinda has a cyber-western feel. Plus its pretty =]

Is Barter Town going to be featured? And will the road warrior make an appearance? these are the hard hitting questions that no one is asking.

Now past that, did they just use the same model for that old guy Heavenly Sword uses for that king guy?

To be fair, I'm a little both. People also find me quirky, deviant, sincere and downright psychotic. My personality has made more splits than Kerri Strug.

But gameplay wise id Software are the king, they make the most crisp, clean and responsive feeling FPS in the industry. They literally NEVER fail to deliver gameplay.

Visuals are as good as to be expected, and I was one of the few people who enjoyed doom 3 (stoned, in the dark, with ambient electronica). I'm not in the least bit excited though, until I see some fun looking gameplay elements. Still, can't knock Carmack, he's a total legend.

So long as it comes to 360. With the ludicrous push to make PC games only run acceptably on PC purchased in the fucking future I doubt my current setup will be able to take it.
